How bad are things going for Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby?
Not only do the Penguins trail the Boston Bruins 2-0 in the Eastern Conference final, in part because Crosbys high-octane game has been stuck in neutral, but now the young star is being openly mocked by people outside the hockey industry.
The pilot of the JetBlue flight transporting members of the Boston media from Pittsburgh to Boston got into the act Tuesday, asking if Sidney Crosby is in the back of the plane after hearing a baby crying on the flight. The pilots comment was tweeted by a couple of media outlets, according to Yahoo Sports.
Now, Crosby has been a target of haters since before he entered the NHL but this is nothing new. But it does bring to light that he does seem to be more focused on complaining to the officials rather than beating the Bruins.
In 12 playoff games, Crosby has seven goals and eight assists but hes been shut out in the first two games with Boston and is minus-3 for the series.
Oh, THAT’S priceless.
That is very poor form making a stupid comment like that.
One to top that is the pilot who made negative comments about West Virginia strip mines to his captive audience passengers. Among the pax were a group of Mine company executives along with mine union leaders. They did not think that editorial comments were appropriate.
Just shut up and fly from A to B!
oh lighten up. he has your life in his hands, if he wants to make a joke its fine with me
Lets see that pilot make that comment on a flight to Pittsburgh or Halifax....and count how many teeth remain in the pilots mouth after the comment
Yea let’s see...Give me a break;Lighten up Francis.People are so sensitive.
Crosby is a conservative Christian so I’m not surprised Boston liberals hate him. I always like the conservative players so I’m pretty happy he plays for a team I like.
Yeah, not like all those communists cheering for the Bruins!
I was on a flight from Detroit to Germany, once we were in the air the Captain says, “thank you for flying with us I hope you enjoy your flight to Yemen”. Everybody started looking at each other....I figured he was joking but many others looked horrified! ...he then laughs and sarcastically apologizes for his “little joke” :)
People are just jealous of him. hater got to hate!!!!
It’s not over till the fat lady sings...
Hey....hold on a minute!!
I am a rabid Bruins fan...have been since I could first watch hockey....I am not even close to Communist!! I come from a very Christian family that are also faithful fans of the B’s.
We hate Crosby because he is a Penguin....The Pens were our arch-enemy in the ‘90’s....including Jagr, who, once hated, we now embrace! That being said....I did always like Mario Lemieux...because he was an amazing player.....had to respect that!
Didn’t know that Crosby was a Christian though.....would think that he wouldn’t whine so much......(ducks and covers!)
He’s not the overt type. He like country music, fishing and the military. He’s pals with some US Special forces guys. Crosby’s not the preachy type, he lives his faith but every once in a while he makes the sign of the cross before going out on the ice.
I hope the Pens can put up a better fight going forward. The Bruins are really good and there are a number of players I like on that team. Admiring Brad Marchand is like a guilty pleasure.
How much does the league fine him for that?
Yeah I was wondering about that. With the leagues new pro homo campaign, it’s going to be considered hate speech.
What is your source for this? I can’t stand Crosby because I’m a Caps fan although I’m originally from pittsburgh and I’ve never heard any of that about him. I do give him credit for persevering after some pretty horrible injuries.
I go to Pens games and I thought I’d seen the sign from the nosebleeds I sit in but the NHL channel confirmed with an up close video of him. Also Pascal Dupuis (roomate) talks about him sometimes.
As far as the other stuff, he’s said that in local interviews and it was also repeated in the latest Sports Illustrated article.
