It is funny—to see the title followed by the picture popping up. I needed a little levity at the moment.

I guess the NSA will revert back to the old saying of the NSA until this all settles down.

NSA : No Such Agency.

I have been pretty far out of the news loop these days, but I could have sworn the snippet I heard on this was that Verizon was the only major cell carrier admitting to this— the implication being they _all_ were, Verizon was the only one being honest about it.

But, again, it was just a snippet heard in passing and I may be inferring rather than the reporter implying...

Anyway, thanks for the laugh.

Eric Schmidt CEO of Google spilled the beans a few years ago and mentioned that there wasn’t any online privacy. These current revelations just prove his point.

Just a side note - I always get my bills ready at
the beginning of the month - write the check, put stamp
on, and date for when to mail. Today was the day for the
Verizon bill. I had the american flag Justice FOREVER stamp
on it and I couldn’t help myself. I drew a big arrow up to the stamp.

The NSA didn’t request this. Look at the leaked FISA warrant, the claimant was not the NSA, it was the DOJ, via the FBI.

It’s instructive that so many media reports are getting this wrong - this is Eric Holder at work again. NSA was the agency tasked with the collection - it wasn’t the agency requesting the warrant. This was the DOJ.

The media is still watching Holder’s back.

It's not NSA that's requesting this surveillance, it's the DOJ under Eric Holder.

Look at the leaked Verizon FISA warrant.

Why are so many media reports getting this wrong?

Obviously, the media is still in Eric-Holder-protection mode.

The American spirit sure needs to do its thing to help these NSA-compliant companies advertise. Obviously the vehicles could use NSA, Prism, and/or Obama logos displayed on them.

It will be very interesting to see what information the DOJ was getting. If they were using it to dig dirt on GOP opposition during the 2012 elections, it will be the end of them. However, I doubt we will hear of this until after 2014, when they will hit our candidates with an avalanche of allegations from this information.

Interesting point.

It certainly changes the dynamic, and the focus of attention.

Considering the amount of data that needs to be sifted through, it would lead me to think that the DOJ would need a fairly substantial facility.

Unless, of course the DOJ requests are “Specific”, and that changes everything.

I am familiar with TS and Noforn classifications.
Never heard of SI.

What does SI mean in this context?
If it was deemed SCI, I would know what that meant, although not necessarily which “C” was involved.

I don’t think so. I bet most of the leaks are from patriotic NSA rank and file. Of course we already know about Binnett.

I don’t know. I’ve never seen ORCON either, but have since learned it means “originator controlled”.

I guess that means, “you better not leak this or we’ll hunt you down and kill you,” or something to that effect.

So, the NSA is doing thier thing under the “Patriot act”.

They have got boat loads of data.

That data has value for more than national security.

The DOJ, understands their ability to request information and the value that may have.

Under the DOJ authority, the NSA complies, since they have no right to question the DOJ.

Tracphone operates on the Verizon network.

They can easily identify who is using one by who you call or are receiving calls from.

They do have good rates though.
