My cat, Brutus, wakes me up at 5:00 AM every morning to let her outside to go HUNTING for birds, rodents, lizards, bugs, spiders, and anything she can catch. I stumble to the door with her zigzagging under my feet; she hesitates, then hustles out the door. If I don’t get right up and let her out, she gets up in my face and meows pitifully until I get up. Sometimes, she gets a bit confused and wakes me up at 2:30 AM instead; but I tell her “NO!”, and she gets back in her bed for another few hours, until 5:00 AM. - I first named her Zippy and Lambchop; but she refused to answer to those names, will only answer to BRUTUS. (I don’t particularly like that name; but what can you do?)

Maybe next time when she wakes you up, give her some food and she won’t have to go out hunting for breakfast ;)

And yet cats and birds have managed to co-exist for all this time.
