It's safe to say Bill Belichick doesn't hate Tim Tebow after all.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Monday the New England Patriots are signing Tebow after all. Just in time for Tuesday's mandatory minicamp.

Way back in April, the Patriots were atop our list of potential Tebow landing spots because of Belichick's appreciation of versatile players and his love of all things University of Florida. But this news still comes as a surprise because of the timing.

I wonder if that means the Pats are trading Ryan Mallett? I can’t think of another reason they would be in such a rush to bring in another back up. Mallett to Dallas, perhaps???

Mallett was a third round pick so I doubt there's a lot of trade value there. I suspect there will be a battle for the number 2 spot between him and Tebow. Since they already cut Kafka then the loser will be number 3.

Baraq’s #2 team, after the Steelers.

‘I hope he goes well except playing the Jets. Then I hope he does really, really well.’

I think you are on to something. Look for the Pats, when playing the Jets, to work the ball inside the 5 yard line. I see Tebow scoring 4-5 touchdowns against the Jets just to rub it in their nose.

It would not be surprised if Belichek signed Tebow for this express purpose.

Mallett has been in the Patriot system since 2011 and is infinitely more talented than Tebow. A trade is brewing.

Good spot for him. They don’t put up with distractions, and Tebow can concentrate on football while the media and circus gets told to F-off by Belichek.

I wonder if Tebow’s going to play tight end or h-back with Gronkowski’s injuries.

Yeah, what happened to those claims? Well, let’s see what “the greatest football player of this or any other generation” (as his fans seem to view him as) can do now.

Mallett’s talented, but was a bit of a headcase. (At least at UM before his Arkansas transfer.)

Outside of academia and the crunchy urban areas (Wellesley, Cambridge etc), New England/Massachusetts is not as liberal as you would think. I think voting blindly D and being a cultural liberal are not one in the same. I know many union types who vote straight D but who are culturally conservative and will welcome Tebow with open arms. I know the owner, Bob Kraft, loves Tebow and his faith. He has said it publicly.

I think you are on to something. There were stories last week allegedly from the Tebow camp that they had concluded his career had come to a premature end. That might have been a signal he is now willing to play somewhere other than QB. I’m glad he finally landed somewhere.

My God... Tebow can learn a lot from Brady! I think this is great!

(Although, I still think Charlotte should have picked him up.)

According to CBSSports.com’s Mike Freeman, Tebow will be tried at tight end. That would be a good move on Tebow’s part cuz he ain’t gonna make it in the NFL at QB.

Since they already cut Kafka

Sounds like the Pats may be experiencing a metamorphosis, and Tebow is no longer the man who disappeared...

Eh. Don’t let it get you down. I am from Massachusetts, and know this place for what it is, and don’t really blame folks for feeling the way they do.

There are conservatives, real ones up here, and Christians. The political system is deeply entrenched.

That said, I try not to let the blanket statements get to me, because I have been all too willing to mouth them myself on many occasions in the past. My favorite target was California, and I thought it would be fine if the big one struck and slid the whole state into the ocean (figuratively speaking, of course)

I have had the privilege of discoursing with many bright, staunchly conservative and patriotic Freepers from California over the years, and...I don’t use those types of blanket statements any more. I know how much they hurt, being lumped in with libtards from these regions.

I do keep in mind that liberalism is a cancer that is found in all states in the union, albeit in varying amounts. But it is there. And you can get liberal legislative and nanny state lunacy from even the most conservative states. People should keep in mind that state borders do not protect you from that cancer.

Liberalism is a relentless one-way ratchet. Once you begin losing ground to it, it is exceedingly difficult to get it back.

This is cool and all i guess but i live about 5 miles down the street from Foxboro Stadium.
I am now going to hear “Tebow this and Tebow that” everyday now for the foreseeable future.
ugh....

That said, this New England fan has no problem with Tim Tebow coming to Foxborough.

I suspect he will do whatever he is asked to do, and the circus won’t be able to get a foothold, no matter how hard they try.

I can see that infuriatingly deadpan Belichick face at the first press conference, and hear that boring, monotone reply: “We do what is best for the team. All players will contribute as we ask them to...blah...blah...blah...blah...blah...”

It will actually be kind of funny. And the reporters will simply stop asking him questions about it. I guarantee it.

“(it should go without saying that with Brady in the lineup, Tebow has no chance to start in New England)”

Don’t forget how Brady first got his start...
