The New England Patriots will sign Tim Tebow, league sources told ESPN's Ed Werder.

The Patriots are signing Tebow, who is expected to participate in the team's mandatory minicamp Tuesday, as a quarterback, according to sources.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James would not confirm that Tebow had already signed when contacted Monday by The Associated Press, saying that he did not "anticipate any additional transactions to announce tonight."

The move will reunite Tebow with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was the Broncos' head coach when Denver traded into the first round to draft the Heisman Trophy winner in 2010.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick often has spoken with admiration for Tebow's versatility, intelligence and character. Belichick covets what he has described as tough, smart, versatile football players.

I don’t watch the MFL that much anymore (too much pink for me.) but I was hoping Arizona would sign him. Oh well...

Hopefully he will get some good practices in and learn some plays and become a decent Quarterback so that next year he will continue with the Patriots. I believe that Bill and Tom will help him get his skills up to where he needs to be.

The Pats are a good place for him. They keep the bling to a minimum. If he can contribute, he will play. Good for him and good for the Pats.

Tim Tebow as one of the greatest quaterbacks of our time and a true patriot and Christian has earned his spot to play on the New England Patriots.

I doubt Tom Brady will get much sleep tonight fearing that Tebow will soon earn his spot as the Patriots starting QB.

And if he were smart... he would willingly play tight end, make the money, have a career..... and enjoy life.

I respectfully disagree.

IMHO, Tebow could be a great quarterback, but he really looks more like a half or fullback. The best thing that could happen to him is be signed to a team with an experienced, established quarterback, and be his back up to learn, learn, learn. Then in a few years, switch roles.

Brady isn't going to be able to play forever, but he's not done yet. They need a replacement, and this is the best way to get one.

Tebow won’t replace Brady and to suggest that is silly. Tebow is a terrific person and a non-typical QB or skill player. If there is anyone in the league who could figure out a productive way to use him it will be the Patriots.

This was a genius move by the owner of the Pats. Whatever Tebow does or does not do on the field (and I wish him success) they will sell a ton of Tebow jerseys and he is worth a mint in marketing.

Testaverde and Weinke did what Horseface was to arrogant to do at Denver and the Jets were too stupid to do, work with Tebow in the offseason. They both immediately recognized that Tebow's problem was not his throwing motion but his footwork. They got that straightened out in short order and declared his arm a non issue. I hate Belicheck but he is smart enough not to listen to all the "experts" out there who declared Tebow done.

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Tom Brady is sleeping fine tonight. Tebow is a fair QB.

Tom Brady won 3 Superbowls and been to 5. He is married to a supermodel. He is first year Hall of Famer. I am sure he will sleep well at night, at least as far as his football accomplishments go. The only thing left is mentoring his replacement.

I don’t think Tim really cares if he is quarter back or not. He just wants to be treated like part of the team and be respected. He’s been traveling among show boat NY bigots - stupid people. I think NY took him to ruin him.
