Skip to comments.Polar Bear Population Growing Despite Declining Sea Ice
Posted on 06/11/2013 8:34:21 AM PDT by rktman
Exciting news about polar bears in eastern Canada: a new the peer-reviewed paper concludes that despite sea ice having declined since the 1970s, polar bear numbers in Davis Strait have not only increased to a greater density than other seasonal-ice subpopulations, but it may now have reached its carrying capacity. This is great news. But where is the shouting from the roof-tops? This peer-reviewed paper was published February 19, 2013. No press release was issued that I could find and consequently, there was no news coverage. Funny, that.Susan Crockford, Polar Bear Science, 10 June 2013

You heartless bass turds!
Don’t you realize how much damage you’re causing to the psyches of “wanna feel good about myself as a good person because I care” liberals?
The environ whackos will be claiming that since the beaches up there will be more crowded due to the increase in population the bears will be more despondent. That means an increase in the suicide rate. How could we have allowed this to happen? We need three more agencies in the government to councel, help, and fund these poor creatures in their misery.
Polar bears “evolved” from animals that thrive in WARM climates to animals that SURVIVE in cold climates, it was an uphill battle, movin back into warm climates is like going downhill.... EASY TO DO!!!
So the global warming idiots seem not to beleive in evolution anymore...
The hilebeast with the boa at bottom right almost blinded me. It certainly messed with my psyche. Ewwwwwww!!!! No wonder billy boy is a philanderer.
Why are we on the side of the polar bears, instead of on the side of the animals they eat?
I’ll get on the phone to peta right away and see if they can get us an answer.
In this case I guess it’s animals eating other tasty animals.
You shoulda inserted the guy on top of the World trade Center somewhere. (Touristguy).
Sounds like a swell idea to send the AGW morons there to investigate. Make sure they take their sun screen and light weight clothes since its so warm there now. Balmy days with light southern breezes lounging under palm trees sipping mai-tais. Ah, the good life.
Polar bears don’t live on ice. They hunt on and under it because that’s where the seals hang out.
There’s just something about riding around alone on a ice floe......
Well, as Jeff Goldblum said, “Life finds a way.”
Once it is clearly established that polar bear populations are thriving, far-left greens will probably complain that the polar bear species is in danger of devolving from its present adaptation to the extreme cold, therefore humans are responsible for ‘ruining’ the species anyway.
Polar bears have been around 250,000 years, way longer than man. They have managed to survive many different ice ages and warm periods. I think they’ll survive this non-event called global warming.
Add polar bears to the list of “deniers”. Probably lied to the survey takers.
I think more of the far left eco weenies should visit the polar bears so they can commune with them. Bring some tobasco with them.
If the climate has not changed in the last 27 years, why is sea ice declining, or is it?
Sublimation. Goes from solid to vapor without the intermediate liquid step. Similar to what’s occurring on Mt. Kilamanjaro.
Just a few comments.
1. Polar bears live in an ice desert and are very good at finding warm blooded mammals for prey.
2. Polar bears can SWIM for miles in the open ocean.
3. Polar bears are not stupid. Polar bears follow the food whether it’s afloat, at sea, or shore.
4. It is difficult to drown a polar bear because their fat makes them naturally buoyant in sea water.
Arctic sea ice is at near record levels. Check weatherbell.com or realscience.com and, polar bears are perfectly happy on shore. Ask the guys that work at Prudhoe Bay.
They work for big oil so we know they lie. LOL! I heard they were shorts most of the time now it’s so warm. And, yes, I’ve seen the graphs and sat photos.
