Tim Tebow's reported signing with Patriots puts QB in perfect position
Yahoo ^ | 6-10-2013 | Dan Wetzel

The strange part of the circus that surrounds Tim Tebow's every move – including reports Monday that he's going to sign with the New England Patriots – is that he does so little to keep it alive.

He doesn't court the media. He doesn't say outlandish things. He doesn't complain about coaching decisions or teammates. He doesn't publicly beg for another chance. Even the quarterback's outward displays of faith (Tebowing, for instance) are nothing that dozens of other NFL players don't do each week after scoring a touchdown.

Tebow is a good soldier, a young player who never said he was as good as his fans claim or publicly ripped into his critics. He, even during his star turn with the Denver Broncos in 2011, always claimed he was just looking to get better.

The circus never cared. His supporters never stopped pushing, his detractors never stopped blasting and the media never stopped feeding that ratings-gold beast.

And it nearly crushed his career.

So now it's New England. Now it's Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. And now for Tebow it's the perfect place and the perfect opportunity at the absolute most desperate of times.

No one pulls the stakes out from under the big top like Belichick.

That works for me. Brady out early...Mallet scores before getting injured...Tebow comes in and blows the Steelers away.

Just so long as Brady doesn’t do well. Hey, I’m still part of Steelers Nation and therefore can’t be a Brady fan.

Yes, a very fair-minded piece. Finally someone says that Tebow has done just about nothing to create the media circus and that his religious, I don’t know, gestures are nothing that is not done by many others.

Thank you to the author, and to you for posting it.

I guess you don’t need to know anything about football to make a comment...

The Pats sure like their Gators, that’s for sure, seems like a lot of former UF players wind up there.

Tebow’s favorite target at Florida - one Aaron Hernandez, TE for Pats. Tebow gets to learn from one of the best, has a great coach, will probably see a fair amount of inside the five action, and even start some games after everything is secured for post-season.

Well really I never was much of an NFL fan. NASCAR, especially before it got the way it is, that’s another story.

Mixed emotions here. I’m a razorback fan and would like to see Mallet do well.

Yep. Many of us have been saying this for a while now. Can’t wait to see Tebow stick it to the Jets.

Not necessarily. The Jets fired Sporano, and thus the playbook it likely pretty different.

You (and others) DO realize that Ryan Mallet is thought of as one of the most talented backups in the NFL, correct? He could probably be starting for maybe 8 or 10 other teams.

Tim Tebow starting a game at quarterback for the Patriots this year would mean nothing short of absolute disaster for the Patriots - given the injuries that would have to occur.

I get that everyone likes the guy, but I don’t understand some of the comments here.

He’s there because he knows the Jet’s playbook.

The Patriots don't need the Jets playbook to kick their ass. The Jets beat themselves quite well.

Bill Walsh spent one year as an assistant with the Raiders, back in 1966, in the old AFL.

Walsh has said that he probably learned more about pro football, both on and off the field, in that one season, than ten years spent anywhere else. Said it was, by far, the single most educational year of his life.
