just think, in the mirror universe there’s an evil Capt. Kirk.

And then there's this guy:

Naval gunfire is known for it’s flat trajectory.

At high enough angles of elevation, a 5-inch gun can be fired as it were a mortar. The fire control computers can handle reverse-slope fire. (Worst case, the chief can crank in some ACTH.)

Sorry -

ACTH = Arbitrary Correction To Hit

Also known as a ‘fudge factor’.

SecNav said that CVN-80 will be Enterprise (the 9th), but as someone pointed out, you gotta be a brown shoe to command a carrier. I miss my boat (Enterprise the 8th)

The unit of measurement for an ACTH is the RCH.

Yes, it’s got to be red for the greatest accuracy.

He was commissioned at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1990

He was commissioned in 1990, which means he was probably born around 1968, while the original Star Trek was running (it ran 1966-69). I'm going to guess that the father thought it would be cute for his son to grow up as "James Kirk".

Naval gunfire is known for it’s flat trajectory.

Do you think that is how the 5"/54 caliber Mark 45 gun reaches 20+ miles, on a flat trajectory?

Besides, as explained the gun on the Zumwalt isn't conventional: link

It’s a term that used to refer to Naval Aviators because they wore brown shoes. Like everything else in the Navy, in recent years they have allowed brown shoes for anybody. A “shoe” or “shoe warrior” is a slightly derogatory term for a surface officer. Bubblehead is the corresponding term for submariners.

Missiles. I don’t know what the 5” set is doing, though.

Firing at a target that is off screen right?
