The Oath Keepers on Edward Snowden
Reason.com ^ | 06/14/2013 | Jesse Walker

Posted on 06/14/2013 12:26:58 PM PDT by Rusty0604

Stewart Rhodes, the group's founder, has emailed me a statement about Snowden:

He is an example of what needs to be done by anyone who has knowledge of such gross violations of our rights. We need more to stand up, because this is surely the mere tip of the iceberg of the infrastructure for a police state that is being built over us.

This is about far more than supposed attempts to ferry out al Qaeda operatives. This is part of a growing Stasi and Checka style surveillance police state which tags, tracks, and prepares plans to detain dissidents with the "Main Core" database of millions of Americans who the regime considers a "threat."

And this is also really about the absurd claim that the U.S. is a battlefield and the Fourth Amendment doesn't apply to the President's "surveillance of the battlefield."

I wonder what would have happened if he had given his info to, say, Rand Paul or Ted Cruz instead of the media (not even U.S. media)? (Well I guess after the Rosen incident no U.S. media would report it.)

there’s a group on every thread about Snowden advocating his execution as a traitor. Is he? I don’t know. He violated national security. But he was exposing the unconstitutional acts of a government agency. But then he fled to Hong Kong (communist China). Gotta wonder who he talked to and who all knows what he knows.

This statement should be shouted from every rooftop and spread through every media.

Unfortunately too many of our fellow Americans are either naive, don't give a rip or are ignorant of history to even know who the Checka or Stasi were.............

True. If they were concerned about security, they'd close the borders, and get rid of the open door policy for Saudi nationals. They definitely wouldn't bring thousands of Islamic Syrians here to America either.

No. The data mining has nothing to do with protecting U.S. citizens. It has everything to do with controling U.S. citizens - the enemy of this current administration.

We need more to stand up, because this is surely the mere tip of the iceberg

We need to get on juries and nullify unconstitutional laws. We need to take NSA/BATFE/EPA jobs and speak out when they cross the line.

The bottom line is that we need to be as active as the gay lobby. They have an advantage, since they don't have children, but we need to remember that we do have children and use that as motivation to be as aggressive with our lawmakers as the pink gestapo.

Every whistle blower, rather right or wrong, violated some trust or oath to bring information forward, how else would they have gotten the information. The only difference if is was a journalist he/she is touted as a hero automatically.

I agree with this. We're no longer a free country because in the past people have remained silent.
Speak up now or forever hold your tongue (that is if the government still lets you own a tongue).

SNOWDEN, PRISM, and the NSA

If you want to hear a chilling expose on PRISM, listen to the following interview of William Benny, a 40 year career NSA employee who becaame the director of 6,000 analysts in their intelligence area, and who was personally involved with PRISM under Bush.

Former Director of NSA Intelligence teveals the full extent of PRISM capabilities. MUST SEE!

From former agent: “Daily Caller: What did you make of the news over the last couple of days with Mr. Snowden coming forward?

Binney: Well obviously, I would have started out by trying to go different routes, like going to the intelligence committee, or the IG. I mean that didn’t do any good but that’s the route I took; I at least tried to do the right thing. So I’m not going to try to understand his motivation. I guess he was properly disturbed by the surveillance state we have, or the police state if you want to call it that. I wouldn’t have done it that way, but that’s the way he did it.

Daily Caller: But you said going through the proper channels didn’t do any good.

Binney: Yes, it didn’t do any good. I would still have done that to say I tried. And then, when it completely failed, then I might consider something radical.”

The people in China don't hate us, just like we don't hate the people in China. The politicians use China as a boogie man to do whatever it is they're trying to do (like taking control of cyberspace, for example, "for our own safety"), but China really isn't that bad. We spy on them more than they spy on us. Jobs go there not just because of prophets there - they go because of oppressive taxation here.
Hong Kong is like a nation unto itself. It uses it's own laws and courts. Their courts are like ours. I suppose the whistle blower ran there because of this. He'd at least get a fair trial. China may protect his life where the politicians here in the U.S. would take it from him in order to silence him.
Think about it. Who's really the more oppressed people? Our government is now extremely oppressive. What can we eat? What can we say? where can we accumulate? What can we buy? What can we drive? What can we sell? How do we get medical care? What do our children learn in school? Where can we pray? Gotta check the regulations! Gotta check the laws! Gotta pay the fees!Gotta pay the fines!

Thanks for that link. More great stuff...chilling, but informative. This man is taking a great risk. God bless him for it.

It's worse than we thought, but not than we imagined. They've just put it together before we thought they woudld.

Now, they do not have the power to analyze this stuff in rea time...but they do have the power to individually go back through it for people they think are a threat. And that is what they are doing now.

I would say we are not as opressed as China but I do remember Obama was so impressed with how China runs things that he said they were a good example. (I think he was talking about the buildings and infrastructure that they build in 3 days and falls apart or is torn down a year later) He probably wishes he could do the forced abortions and shooting political dissidents thing.

It now considers the U.S. citizens it's enemy.

We need a peaceful revolution that demands the return of our civil rights as a free people. It's like Martin Luther King all over again, but today it's all Americans who want to be free who need to march in the streets. We're all being re-inslaved.

Oh, at this point we are all pretty much behind the barb wire. Sure you can leave if you want but unless you have a good cave picked out in the wilds of Kyrgyzstan they can always come get you. In fact they'll probably get you there, too, given enough time.

Yeah. Most of China is heavily oppressed, which is probably why the whistle blower went to Hong Kong. The socialists in Europe wouldn't have protected him. Even Russia has agreed to give him asylum, because his own government would make sure he went "missing" long before he made it home.
I don't think he had much of a choice but to flee to a country that wouldn't turn him over to the regime. At least he's alive today.

Now wait a minute. Who told you they were an enemy? The politicians?
Islam has killed thousands of Americans in this country alone, but our politicians are demanding we see them as friends.
When was the last time China decapitated one American? When was the last time they bombed a building? When was the last time the Chinese demanded special, protective treatment in the U.S.?
Are you being manipulated for political gain, or are the politicians being honest with you? Could making an enemy of China have anything to do with the politicians desire to take control the Internet? Will they do it "for national security " - to protect us from those murdering blood thirsty............ Asians??

There are other ways of taking down an enemy than decapitation or bombing buildings. Saying that China is not our friend does not mean that the Islamic countries are.

Yeah, but this regime wants us to rise up violently (which is why he's doing everything he can to tee us off). That way, when we rise up, they can come down on us like a tone of bricks. Imagine oboma with the power of martial law!
That's why we march peacefully, because he couldn't stop that. That way he can't get his private army (being trained) to start firing. He only has about three years left to start his war. If we don't start it, he can't win it.

Saying that China is not our friend does not mean that the Islamic countries are.

I'm not saying they're a friend, but they're not the ones trying to kill us right now, yet our politicians want us to fear the Asians and love the Jihadists.
Never trust what a politician tells you. Almost everything they do has to do with THEIR OWN power and luxury, and we're just pawns in their global game.

In my opinion, the "cyber threats" from China are no where near as bad as what we do to them, and it's just an excuse that will allow the politicians to control the Internet (they want that control soooooo bad!).
