pillory; noun/verb

noun 1. a wooden framework erected on a post, with holes for securing the head and hands, formerly used to expose an offender to public derision. verb (used with object) 2. to set in the pillory. 3. to expose to public derision, ridicule, or abuse: The candidate mercilessly pilloried his opponent.

Etymology: 1225–75; Middle English pyllory < Old French pilori, perhaps < Medieval Latin pīlōrium, equivalent to Latin pīl ( a ) pillar (see pile1 ) + -ōrium -ory2 , though Romance variants such as Provençal espillori suggest a less transparent source

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Here is my example with WFTD.

Marco Rubio has been rightfully pilloried for his tone-deafness on the immigration stuff.

When would you like my list of Obama cohorts that need to be pilloried, who should I submit it to, ans where should I set up the pillory?

Do I get extra points for using it in the future verb tense as well as the present nominative?

The rhyming of this word with Hillary should inspire some interesting responses.

Barack should be placed in a pillory
Alongside the one saved for Hillary
But while I am dreaming
The liberals are scheming
And loading up heavy artillery

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, he’s the most anti-Catholic English speaking politician since Henry VIII.

I ran into an old political foe/ally this weekend at a Hosta Garden tour. The "gentleman" is a wild man who has been known to threaten to punch the Mayor out and at one time had similar words for my husband. This weekend, however, he was busy plllorying the Obama administration. Politics makes strange bedfellows, indeed.

Heading to Jacksonville for an all-week training class/boondoggle. 4 of us, including my boss are going. Should be fun.

Interesting side comment about our conversation with the old foe/ally. He claims to have run into a friend at a local funeral who is a member of the special Forces. This man (son of our neighbor) claims to have been a ‘friend’ of the late Amb. Chris Stevens. He said that he saw Amb. Stevens just before he left on his assigment to Libya, and Stevens was ‘scared to death’ about the prospect. FWIW.

Are they putting this guy in a pillory and letting his partner, who may have set him up, go free? The plot thickens...

Obama should try saying that over HERE. I’m sure the Bishops would stomp him with their other foot.

But, an interesting side effect of school choice and the rise of Charter schools. According to my daughter who lives in a suburb of Albany, NY, Catholic schols are closing right and left because Charter schools are free, and Catholic schools are expensive. Double-edged blade.
