Personally, I favor heads on pikes over the pillory when it comes to the O administration.

Catholic churchs in upstate NY are closing, so the closing of Catholic schools up there doesn’t surprise me. I don’t think you can generalize that to the rest of the country though. Catholic schools in suburban DC are robust, despite having the very top rated public schools in the country here in Fairfax and Montgomery counties.

Well, the churches are merging. I’m just reporting my daughter’s remarks which were more a commentary on the motives parents may have for sending their kids to private school. Many families seek private education for the social status, rather than the education, or the religous support. When the Catholic schools get too pricey they’ll turn elsewhere, if it is free, or cheaper.

I just heard the other day that Divine Savior Holy Angels (an old merger of 2 high schools) is now costing $17,000 per year. I know a lot of people who sacrifice to meet that bill and a lot of folks who would opt for the public school and save the tuition money for college.

Most everyone i know sent their kids to Catholic school, and it was for the religious support. I think it’s noteworthy that people stood in line to get in to the Catholic elementary schools when Falls Church City and Fairfax Co. schools are top ranked nationwide. Public schools elsewhere are very different than here. PC bs is rampant.

My Catholic grammar and high school closed about 15 years after I graduated. The church is still there, along with the hospital. My theory was, not enough folks hanging around to pay tuition, aka white flight.

xsboy was in MI for a work trip yesterday and didn’t get in until midnight. But the rest of us went out for brunch on Capitol Hill after church. I thought it was so nice that when we were getting ready to leave, the waitress came up to our table and told xshub that she had been watching people for the past two days and that he was by far the BEST LOVED DAD that she had seen, just by our demeanor at the table. I thought that was nice of her to report.
