*VIDEO* Police open fire on a car sitting at crowded DWI checkpoint

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A couple celebrating Father’s Day with their baby found themselves in the middle of a shootout at a DWI checkpoint when officers unloaded on a car sitting in heavy traffic. The couple, Jared and Rose Cleerdin were hoping it wouldn’t be their last Father’s Day together as the officers fired dozens of rounds in the direction of on-coming traffic. Jared Cleerden believes the officers acted way beyond what was necessary for public safety saying, ”Every cop turned around and started unloading like super trigger happy as if their training was coming into full effect and they were being able to utilize it,” said Cleerdin. “Everybody was just blasting this car to pieces. It was absolutely terrifying. It was way beyond reckless,” said Cleerdin. “I couldn’t believe it. These are professional people, professional officers, and they’re training, they’re highly trained and they’re not supposed to do stuff like that. Cops are shooting from the front of the car, back into the rest of the on-coming traffic to the check point, into the rest of the innocent civilians down the road.”

Side Note: Did you pick on this completely separate, but equally important sleight of hand?! @1:17 "...a routine DUI checkpoint..." ??? Do they mean a routine violation of my right to travel unmolested?

Here's a follow up article:

Sheriff Ingram explains what happened during checkpoint shooting

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Something went wrong at a Brunswick County checkpoint, leaving two people recovering from gunshot wounds and seven deputies on the sidelines until investigators get answers.

Four sheriff's deputies from Brunswick County have been moved to desk positions and three New Hanover County deputies are on leave after 34-year-old Antoine Graham and 42-year-old Jerry Melvin, both of Leland, were shot at a DWI checkpoint.

Brunswick Sheriff John Ingram said Monday during a news conference that everything was done by procedure. When the shooting happened, the checkpoint had just started and deputies immediately shut it down to deal with the situation at hand.

I live in Charlotte, it’s ok still. Alot of people have moved here from other liberal places and are trying to change it into the place they fled..lol. I was thinking about crossing the border into South Carolina. Lower taxes and fewer illegals, etc. You will like NC compared to Maryland. More conservatives are welcome. :)

“Sorry about that, y’all! We thought they were dogs...”

Yep, that's what I was thinking.

You are aware that this is the mantra of liberals who think we should just accept terrorist attacks on Americans, aren’t you?

Officials with the sheriff's office are keeping tight lipped about the incident. No one will tell us who shot the two suspects, or what even led up to the shooting.

Sounds like they've got conflicting stories from the officers and are trying to square things up before going public with a sanitized version.

Becoming an all too familiar pattern.

You are aware that you are speaking glibly in response to a thread discussing an incident which, if any non-government employee Freeper were to engage in such behavior, would result in said Freeper being labeled as a terrorist, aren’t you?

The point of the quote is to prompt unthinking men and women to consider what they are supporting in the name of “fighting terrorism”-—lest pigs take for themselves puppies and release them trained attack dogs, a la Animal Farm.

Ah, so.

By that analogy the Vietnam War was really no big deal, since about as many Americans died each year while it was going on in traffic accidents as died in the entire conflict.

Most people recognize that intentional enemy action is qualitatively different from mishaps and accidents, regardless of quantitative similarities.

If that is not the case, why be upset about the Pearl Harbor attack? Only about 2500 Americans died, less than died in December of 41 on American highways.

No, that does not follow.

What does follow is that anyone committing the same crime without benefit of a government employee’s uniform would be labeled a terrorist, and condemned by all parties without hesitation.

You seem eager to divert from that.

One does not “fight terrorists” while ignoring domestic acts of the same.

Freegards,

If anyone wants to be on or off the Agenda 21 ping list, please notify me by Freepmail. It is a relatively low volume list in which we have been exploring the UN Agenda21 and related topics. We have collected our studies with threads, links, and discussions on the Agenda 21 thread which can be found here:

Post 128 of the Action Thread is a summary of the history of Agenda 21, “what they are doing”, “what to do about it” and a good bibliography for further reading.
