Why Does the NSA Need Over One Million Sq.Ft. of Data Storage Space?
Self | June 19, 2013 | Stayfree

If the NSA is not spying on all our telecommunications, then why do they need such a huge data storage facility on top of what they already have??? I think we know the answer and it is not pretty!

You must not really understand the NSA mission. That mission is not to spy on U.S. citizens although there are obvious and much discussed exceptions to that rule.

The NSA mission is spy on These People

There are a lot them. Storing all that data takes a lot of room.

You certainly don’t need that kind of space to “monitor data” in order to ferret out patterns indicating terrorist activity. No, you only need that kind of space to store mountains of data being collected every hour.

Why do we believe that the NSA is the only goverment agency that is efficient and doesn't waste tax money.

Simple answer: Because “We The People” are considered the enemy and there are roughly 150 million of us in the United States.

It is obvious that they are storing every bit of information they can on all of us. They want to know who will give them trouble and who will be compliant. I would guess that the millions of people that post conservative ideas would be considered in the former category. It has also become obvious that the GOP Establishment too consider the conservative as their enemy.

No, they are spying on all of us, because they can.

They have roughly 1000 "analysts". 22 are authorized to look at U.S. citizen files. What do you think the other 978 are doing?

If you think the government is or could spy on you then you are correct. You just have the wrong agency. Try these 3-letter folks on for size: DOJ, FBI, IRS, EPA ... And don't forget Google, Twitter, Facebook, FreeRepublic.com . These guys know a lot about you too.

The primary mission of the NSA is to collect foreign communications intelligence by technical means. Collecting this from Americans is incidental. That doesn't mean that it can't be abused. Of course it can. But in terms of its mission it targets foreigners and foreign governments. The CIA has a similar mission focused on foreign Human Intelligence.

If the U.S. government wants to spy on YOU it will most likely be the FBI doing the work. That's their job and their mission. Eric Holder is the boss. Does that make you feel comfortable?

The NSA mission statement may restrict their activities to international espionage, yet there will be the inescapable interface with domestic activities. I think they spy on Americans. Perhaps you’re correct, but I doubt it. The more information that comes out “if it’s not misinformation” would indicate they are part of it.

They are constructing a microcosm of the universe, the Library of Babel.

By necessity, this microcosm will contain a microcosm of the Library of Babel itself...

http://www.thecriticalpoint.net/index_files/libraryofbabel.pdf

Either that, or they are totally spying on us.
