Review Thread Three: Word For The Day, Tuesday 1/28/03: Obdurate
The endless articles on this administration's polices are mind numbing.
Rise and shine! It’s a new day and the NSA is getting bored with your usual boring phone conversations. Try to liven it up a bit today! It’s SUMMER.
"...easy, it's when you divorce your cogitate"
While cogitating over this thread, I pondered how to explain why cogitate and excogitate have the same meaning.
Hey, wait a minute............
Your post made me cogitate/excogitate the same about flammable/inflammable.
It’s time for the government to excogitate Obamacare.
You should have excogitated it and you would have thought it through more thoroughly. Only difference I can see. A++
Mind numbing, isn’t it? A++
LOL I can see that. A++
Heading to Williamsburg today, my anniversary is tomorrow. We are having a romantic getaway : ) 28 yrs
They should exgurgitate, er, regurgitate it. A++
Yes. It's time for things to get explosive.
Re: Obama, when I excogitate
I get agita, (stomach will agitate)
Healthcare to Benghazi
IRS, phone tap Nazi
It’s difficult not to regurgitate
LOL, the summer has just begun. A+++
almost the Fourth of July, too.
2. use or exercise the mind or one's power of reason in order to make inferences, decisions, or arrive at a solution or judgments;
- Example: "I've been thinking all day and getting nowhere"
2. reflect deeply on a subject;
- Example: "I mulled over the events of the afternoon"
- Example: "philosophers have speculated on the question of God for thousands of years"
- Example: "The scientist must stop to observe and start to excogitate"
FWIW, in Moby Thesaurus, cogitate is listed as a synonym of excogitate and excogitate is listed as a synonym of cogitate.
And it's be a Happier Summer if the PRESIDENT were to RESIGN for his FAILURE and his INEPT LEADERSHIP.
There, something for the NSA to read.
The NSA is going to be thrilled with our phone conversations and emails as we try to explain to one of our candidates that he didn't excogitate his plan to decline the offer that he already accepted because the govt is not moving fast enough to suit him. Idiot.
My team may have overexcogitated and that’s why they lost to the Heat. I still believe they are the better team.
I am flying tomorrow for the first time in over 12 years. I understand there are some new rules?
The mechanic told me he would have to excogitate my disgronifier, and it would cost me $1800.
We read that in book club a couple of years ago.
Now you’ve done it. Obama will be sending a team of IRS auditors soon.
Unintended consequences are the natural result of failure to excogitate.
I am blissfully ignorant of those wanting to run this year....but is it Rubio? Not a one of them who is mentioned interests me in the least. A++
Oh, how fun. I went for a long weekend with DH and a baby daughter once. Not a romantic weekend, he was in conferences all day, while I strolled the village. Loved the place.
Happy Anniversary! Let the romance begin.
Oh, dear. Poor little Northie West. A+++
Maybe they overheated? A++
At this point, I have no idea what the rules are. They change all the time. Good luck with that.
I’ll just bet there are some real Darwin winners who failed to excogitate their actions. A++
Happy anniversary! I was in Williamsburg once-I met MrT5 for a getaway there when he was TDY nearby-it was lovely-hope you have a wonderful time...
Ohmygosh a mommy Jules!!!!
Yes, do not wear 3 large metal bracelets on each arm and expect to waltz on through.
Wear some socks unless you welcome the idea of strolling through security barefoot.
And take everything out of your pockets. Everything.
Thanks! We used to go to Williamsburg all the time, love it there! The kids are demanding a boatload of ginger cakes! One of the bakeries in the colonial bakeries has them.
Do Obama’s minions understand
That we listen-and we hear
Or excogitate before rushing
To put their mouths in gear?
From all the scandals stinking
Like a trash dump in the heat
It appears a hotel break-in
May be the next dubious feat
Because following that playbook
With its secrets, thrill and dirt
Already cost the author his office-
And barely left him with his shirt...
How is your new puppy getting along?
Buffy will eat ANYTHING, even another dog’s poop it appears. Good Lord deliver me. She has her dog obedience class tonight. She will be learning to “sit”. Last week’s assignment was just to click and give her a treat so she knows what happens when she hears the click.
Cogito ergo sum.
Excogito ergo aestas.
Thank you! I’ve never had a dog that ate crap, but I’ve heard that from a couple of people about their puppies. Husky girl only went to a few obedience classes-Huskies seem well behaved as long as they are not left outside off-leash-EVER-they are escape artists and run for a living-even my old girl isn’t above giving it a go...
My other four dogs-guarding breeds and a herding dog-went the full monte on the obedience classes-they were all very headstrong.
That picture makes me want a little Spaniel like that-and as a general rule, I like big dogs-but that small breed is so personable...
