Webpages that accessed on my computer are opening up on my cell phone. Strange.

Has anybody experienced this lately? I will go to a webpage on my office computer then later during the day that very same page will open up on my cellphone in Safari. Mind you I didn't visit that web page on my cell phone at all and didn't sync it with my computer either. I'm wondering if someone has hacked my work computer, is capturing the webpage addresses then has my cellphone number and access to the account to make it open up on my cellphone remotely. I know how part of that could be done but it would take access to systems within the phone system to do so, sort of like NSA level access. Has never happened before. Just want to see if anyone else has experienced the same lately to see if someone is playing games.

Safari syncs your phone, desktop, iPad, and what have you through iCloud.

Cool, isn't it?

ActiveSync is *supposed* to do this. Check and see if you have it.

I once had emails from my home computer and my husband’s work computer start showing up on my phone as text messages. it got worse from there. I then had someone turning my computer on and off remotely at night. One time, my husband actually heard them talking about making copies of things.

Odd.

I had several posts on FR under my name that were not me.

Happened after being in the airport and using free WiFi.

They weren’t weird or anything, just not mine.

I assumed there was another Freeper sitting there in the airport.

Yes, I see that someone mentioned I-cloud. My problem was before I-cloud and Safari, not the same thing at all.

It’s not so cool, if you happened to visit some questionable sites and your wife wants to access Safari from your phone for a quick, web search.

Then it goes from cool to very cold, quickly.

I hope you don't my asking, but are you sure about this? I've heard it from other people, and am trying to ascertain its credibility. Thank you.

Oh, yes, I am very sure. We think that it was related to my husband’s job, either inside politics or outside law suits. He works in the oil industry.

My husband actually heard them talking about what they were going to take copies of. We didn’t care because there was nothing on there except my shopping and posts on FreeRepublic.

When I first booted up my new computer it tried to connect wireless to my wireless modem, my other computer's wireless, and my wireless telephone.

How did your husband hear them, on the computer, on the phone?

I have a Sister and Brother-in-Law who typically spend half the year in Europe. We email each other about every day.

Last year when I still had a dial-up modem, it got to where I had real problems sending and receiving emails from them, I guess I should change that to opening emails and sending emails just to them. None of my other regular email senders/receivers, had any problem.

I remember wondering if the fact they were in Hungary meant that someone was spying on my emails. This was before all the publicity. Of course discussing family reunions, the weather etc. would get pretty boring to anyone listening in I guess.

That makes sense. Seems to drive women crazy, though.

I bet you could dig out an old dial up modem that worked over a phone like (the 80s kind that made that screaching noise). I doubt any of the modern listening equipment would work with it.

I made it sound as though it was nothing. That is not the case at all. it was very disconcerting and really upset me when it first happened because the home email that started the whole thing, showed up on my phone when I was in AZ and my son was in London. It was the 4th of July, 2005. It was a message from son asking me to call him in London and giving me directions how to do that. I took the message seriously and called him at 3AM in London. The next day all my husband’s emails to and from his work computer showed up on my phone as text messages. We didn’t even know how to text at that time. Then on July 7th, I woke up suddenly a little after 1AM and for some reason turned on the computer to FreeRepublic, where a poster from London was posting about the tube attack in London. I asked what time it was there and got off the computer and called my son. He had missed his train and was still standing in Gloucester station when the train that he had just missed was blown up.

Later that morning my cell phone just died in my hand for no obvious reason.

The weird problems continued for one year, from July 4th to July4th.

Clever code, Comrade. Just don’t write “John has a long mustache” or all Hell will break loose.
