TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie has ordered all state buildings to fly flags at half staff Monday to honor the late actor James Gandolfini.

Christie’s resolution says the New Jersey native, who died Wednesday while on vacation in Italy, was an “iconic actor, who left a timeless impact upon television and film in the State of New Jersey and across our Nation.”

Officially ridiculous already. Though I never saw his show and as sad the loss is to his family, he was an actor, not a public servant or even military. Christie is really getting carried away with ordering flags at half. Seemingly every other week we see it and my wife and I usually wonder what singer or whatever died now.

Gandolfini would probably smack Christie for this. He was officially quoted as saying that he was just an actor doing a job.

Well, they did it for Whitney Houston, among others. Ridiculous. The action is becoming meaningless.

Hadn’t heard that one, thanks. From what I’ve read he sounded like a real level headed guy.

Scary is that PhonyCons are pushing Christie for President...as Christie lowers flags at half-staff for an actor who had major substance abuse problems

I suppose the fact that Italians are the largest Euro-ethnic group population-wise in the state of New Jersey (approx 18%) has nothing to do with Christie's political half-staff order.

You have to give the Guv credit....he has cogliones.

Nice, but stupid gesture. What’s next, mourning the loss of popular zoo animals.

If Springsteen dies while Christie is still in office, he’ll probably close the state for a week

Christie is a joke. I guess he’s running for President with the Hollywood crowd.

While he’s at it, why not make the Bada-Bing an historical landmark.
