Kick-Ass 2 trailer
Jim Carrey is refusing to support his new film "Kick-Ass 2" out in theaters this August.
The outspoken actor on gun control violence took to Twitter yesterday saying he couldn't back the movie because of its amount of violence.
I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to e — Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) June 23, 2013
I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart. — Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) June 23, 2013
@TheTaint10 It did, over time. That's why my character doesn't use bullets. Evolution. — Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) June 23, 2013
Carrey slammed gun control opponents earlier this year in a "Funny or Die" parody of former NRA president Charlton Heston.
"Kick-Ass" comics creator Mark Millar was baffled by Carrey's comments. Millar took to his website in a lengthy message recalling the reason Carrey was attracted to the film was because his character refuses to fire a gun.

Hold my breath waiting for him to give back his paycheck because he can’t support it?
Now that's funny Jim!
He keeps getting Dumb and Dumber.
You nailed it. Oh, and Jim? Matt Frewer would like his personality back.
RE: He keeps getting Dumb and Dumber.
I like him like that...
That’s what it sounds like.
He is absolutely safe from me, my praise, my money or such contributions and so are his sponsors.
‘Gun control violence’?
Carrey is bi-polar as well as manic depressive
Get a shrink Jim, and go learn how to skeet shoot. Your money does not make you smart.
Must be the Canadian in him speaking.
just shut and and stop showing the world how stupid you are
Carey admits that Gun Controllers are violent.
What did he think he was supporting when he signed up for a movie called “Kick Ass 2”?
“Hold my breath waiting for him to give back his paycheck because he cant support it?”
Exactly. He will keep the money put give back the movie? I bet he has a contract that says he must support it. I would sue him out of every penny if he did that to my product.
I think he’s trying to use reverse psychology on us. Nobody who loves America and the 2nd Amendment would want to line his pockets by purchasing tickets to his movie, so he tells us NOT to see it, hoping we will go see it out of spite.
I can’t imagine his contract doesn’t demand certain appearances and other such promotional events. Suing him for not fulfilling his contract, on the other hand, doesn’t help to promote the movie (and its profits). It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
I won’t watch anything Carrey makes. He’s funny, just not THAT funny.
His conscience is buoyed by an opportunistic moment of PR parody, that is informed only by how much revenue the film will produce.
It’s part of the PR campaign. “Dang, if Jim Carrey says it’s that violent it’s gonna be great!”
1. Suddenly start supporting liberal causes. ✓
2. Gratuitously insult conservative moviegoers. ✓
3. Take nonsensical public stands that draw attention to yourself. ✓
The payment he received for being a professional pretender is another matter. Them checks done been cashed.
But he’ll take the paycheck. What a washed up loser.
His assertion is extremely lame. He made the movie after Columbine and Va. Tech shootings. Why the sudden spell of conscience now? I smell an ulterior motive.
Sorry J. C. I don't buy it.
Somebody needs to remake "Max Headroom" - it could be even more topical these days.
Ohhh, he doesn't like what he has to do for the men that pay him, but he needs the money.
I know. Hilarious isn’t it. Biting the hand that feeds him. What a joker.
The suits have determined he is poison after this slinger song bashing heston. all his kooky causes came out.
now they want him to shut up. this is his BS excuse.
