That was just a publicity stunt for ratings. In real life, he agrees with the New York Times about gay marriage and thinks Republicans are, 'toxic.'

The Free Republic Endorsement

The "endorsement" amounted to a choice of the lesser of three evils. At the time, the choices were John McCain, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee had the fewest problems. He also had the fewest achievements.

I did not vote for Mike Huckabee, but wish that I had. Even with some of his Rino views, we would have a very different country today.

I believe that he is very sound in his theology, and would never have never overturned DADT, or approved of same sex marriage. We wouldn't be facing Obamacare. He is all so a very good speaker, No TOTUS.

Huckabee is quite qualified to teach at a SBC retreat,

I live in the Mid-South and other than the parole problems or that the Huckabee’s registered with deptmartment stores when they built a new house.

Huckabee had nothing to do with Obama, Romney did that by sending out the message early not to even think of entering the 2008 primary, because he had the establishment support, and the organization, the manpower, the big donors, and all his personal wealth already lined up.

Romney kept out the big dogs, and still lost to McCain and Huckabee.

True, the first choice was Thompson.

Huckabee is a RINO and has a proven record of supporting the invasion of illegal aliens... to the point of backstabbing those who tried to put into place laws to prevent illegal aliens from stealing one our most precious birthrights, the right to vote.

Huckabee blasts immigrant bill as ‘race-baiting’

BY DAVID HAMMER ASSOCIATED PRESS

Posted on Friday, January 28, 2005

Gov. Mike Huckabee said Thursday that a bill to deny state government benefits and voting rights to illegal immigrants is “inflammatory... race-baiting and demagoguery.”He challenged the Christian values of its main sponsor.

The governor said the bill “inflames those who are racist and bigots and makes them think there’s a real problem. But there’s not.”

Sens. Jim Holt of Springdale and Denny Altes of Fort Smith, whose Northwest Arkansas region includes the state’s fastest growing Hispanic population, filed the measure, Senate Bill 206.

Huckabee, a Baptist minister and a Republican like Holt and Altes, said Arkansans should be welcoming hardworking immigrants of all races.

Slandering conservatives (me included) as bigoted race-baiters for attempting to stop the invasion of our country is unconsienable for someone claiming to be a conservative.

Did he really believe someone was wrong for attempting to deny voting rights to illegal aliens, or was he betraying his own principles in order to score political points?

These people he was publicly attacking were Republicans, members of his own party. He was attacking them because they were, in the spirit of the rule of law, attempting to pass a conservative border enforcement measure into law.

I would expect such garbage from Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid or the Chief Marxist, or a RINO, but not from a conservative).

He campaigned in Texas via robo-calls and whatever else AGAINST Ted Cruz. That proves he is a mainstream R and not too bright at that. If you know the other candidate, David Dewhurst, and Cruz, you would say What are you thinkin’ Huckster?

Scandals? Nothing personal that I know of. He’s a bit of a RINO at times but if you compared him to Juan McCain he’d seem like Reagan. He did do a magnificent job speaking at George Jones funeral and he could probably work weekends as a bass player. ;o)

(Huckabee) also had the fewest achievements.

I don't think the original poster was looking to see if Huckabee had enough "achievements" to speak at a Southern Baptist event.
