To the officer who, unlike the suspected prowler, entered a fenced yard without invitation or warrrant and shot this 29-lb dog - you sir are a *****. As a woman, I own one. But nobody has to BE one.

Just from reading stories here on FR I have figured out that if the Cops ever come to my place, or if I’m ever out with my dog and a cop comes up to me that is what I’d have to do!

Perhaps there should be a law to protect dogs from aggressive cops?

Hearing that this story occurred in Contra Costa County makes this problem come too close to home.

Lord, a cocker doesn’t have enough brain to be dangerous! Like shooting a special-needs kiddo...

My wife rescued a 7 year old Cocker that had been severely abused. The dog was very mellow and laid back..... unless you acted in a menacing manner to my wife. If anyone would have harmed her in any way he would have given his life to protect her.
