MAN OF THE WEEK - Ronald Reagan
youtube ^ | 1973 | Dean Martin

Posted on 06/28/2013 11:18:12 PM PDT by FlJoePa

This is a great video that starts with Dean Martin, Don Rickles, etc., but ends with a lot of great Reagan.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat; Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: deanmartin; reagan
Search for other Dean Martin roasts for greats like Newhart, Foster Brooks, Johnny Carson, Jonathan Winters, etc.

They are/were the last time we had some semblance of a sense of humor in this country.

My goodness, I sure miss the Gipper.

Those days seem like they have faded away completely.

And just look at what a mess we are in now.

I’m glad Reagan didn’t have to live to see these dark days.

Men are gone and the new man is a woman? What a mess.

Men are gone and the new man is a woman? What a mess.

I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he's a she.

And what a she!

In one blockbuster of a speech, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resurrected my Dad’s indomitable spirit and sent it soaring above the convention center, shooting shock waves through the cynical media’s assigned spaces and electrifying the huge audience with the kind of inspiring rhetoric we haven’t heard since my Dad left the scene.

Welcome Back, Dad by Michael Reagan.

I think Mark Spitz is the only one of that bunch still alive. Imagine if we had a president today denouncing communism and supremacy of the state. Or if he said it’s better to be dead than not believe in God. The liberal media would have a field day.

Mean Mr. Mustard himself. I loved his role in Kelly’s Heroes. Nancy is still alive too, by the way.

He also played a barroom tough guy in the "Twilight Zone" episode Mr. Dingle, the Strong, starring Burgess Meredith.

That and many more. Don Rickles is a household name for me any anyone else growing up at the time.

This is great! Going to cut and copy the link to everyone today.

Loved Pat Henry, around 7:00. And of course all the household best comedy stars. Jack Benny, never ever jumped the shark...and really sharp here.

Jonathan Winters...Don Rickles...very very funny....

Precious tape. This is leadership my friends. Ronald Reagan should have been president in 1976. He still had the fire in his second term...but at least thank God...we had him when we did.

You’re welcome - and a bump. Was looking through some old Dean Martin Roasts and this one obviously caught my eye.

I love everything about this video - it shows that well delivered humor (see Nipsey Russell) still trumps the day. Even after all these years.

All it was missing was some classic Bob Newhart.

Too bad we have what we have now, but at least we can look back.
