Actor Pierce Brosnan is devastated after his daughter Charlotte died, aged just 42. The mother-of-two died after a three year battle with ovarian cancer - the same disease which killed her mother Cassandra 22 years ago - at her London home on Friday. Pierce, who has been filming a spy thriller, November Man, in Eastern Europe, last night said: ‘On June 28 my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean.

The former governor of Maine, Kenneth Curtis lost both of his daughters to cystic fibrosis. I believe both he and his wife Polly are still living and in their late 70’s early 80’s.
The daughters died in their 30’s I believe.

My dear friend in high school died in the early ‘70s at age 29 of ovarian cancer. She left a 3 year old and an 8 month old. Doctors thought it might have started during pregnancy.
The same thing that killed her mom. Damn. Poor Pierce.

This is Pierce’s stepdaughter. His late wife, Cassandra Harris, was older and had already had been twice married with 2 children by the time she married Brosnan (curiously, her ex-husband, the father of the 2, died back in the ‘80s). She appeared as a (Roger Moore) Bond girl in FYEO, getting mercilessly run down on the beach in the film. I would definitely be terrified if I were the granddaughter, with both grandmother and mother dying at 43 and 42.

Cancer risk is most significant when it has occurred among first degree relatives, that is, parents, siblings, or children.

She had three children; Christopher and Charlotte Harris by her marriage to Dermot Harris, and a son, Sean Brosnan (b. 1983), from her marriage to Brosnan. Christopher and Charlotte were adopted by Brosnan after the death of Dermot Harris in 1986.
Death
Harris was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1987 and battled the illness for four years until she died from it on 28 December 1991, aged 43.[3] Her daughter, Charlotte, also died of ovarian cancer on 28 June 2013 at the age of 41.[4]
I heard on the news today that her grandmother died of it as well — three generations.
Sad beyond words.

Women who have been pregnant and carried it to term have a lower risk of ovarian cancer than women who have not. The risk goes down with each full-term pregnancy. Breastfeeding may lower the risk even further.
I'm just going on what I've read and what my gyno says. Not here to argue.
