NEW YORK, July 1 (UPI) -- Kyra Sedgwick's husband Kevin Bacon announced via WhoSay the U.S. actress sliced off the top of one of her fingers while chopping kale in the kitchen.

Bacon posted photos of the 47-year-old former "Closer" star with bloody gauze on her hand before she saw a doctor, then a giant bandage on her finger after she was treated for the injury, People.com reported.

"Kale isn't always healthy ... if you chop the end of your finger off," Bacon wrote in his online message during the weekend. "My baby is fine. All good. Still can't find the tip of that finger."

At least it wasn't her middle finger.

The wine is supposed to go in to the PAN.

Still can't find the tip of that finger.

If he finds it has been said that the best course of action is to put it in a Cracker Jack box, packed in ice, and rush to the hospital, preferably onboard an express bus.

If they doesn't find it I suppose they can graft her thumb to her hand.

I did that once but fortunately the tip was attached by a bit of skin and the doc sewed it back on. Unfortunately, he sewed it on upside down so now I have an upside down finger print.

In the commercial kitchens, we used superglue and then back to work, slacker... Working commercial kitchens is like slavery coupled with experimental surgery. ;)

I probably am and was a slacker but at the time I was 16 years old. I don’t remember much and was probably in shock.

Do you mean that your fingernail is on the bottom? That should make for interesting manicures!

Seriously, I’m sorry for your loss.

You shouldn’t say that in public. Now the NSA is on to you.

Nope. Just the tip - it was very superficial.

One of those Talos IV physicians without an instruction manual?

Around the oil fields we just used electric tape and a piece of rag to hold the piece cut off in place.

This is why I buy my kale pre-chopped. It’s pre-washed, too. At least, I haven’t found a fingertip yet....

Akyroyd doing Julia Childs was always a classic! That skit, especially.

Ow. I did this to myself last summer. The fingertip was too mangled to reattach, but over about six weeks it mostly grew back. The key is to keep it securely covered and moist and to not disturb the granulation tissue as it forms. The fingertip retains only a numb patch to remind me of my clumsiness.

Another win is that I no longer have a fingerprint on that finger. Hard way to get anonymity, though.
