Bet those dead crows got AWFULLY ripe after two or three days...
I liked the Green Hornet movie. Go figure.
One of the original ‘Lone Ranger’ movies with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels was on last night...great stuff! Even recognized Mr. Barbara Eden (Michael Ansara) as one of the Indians...
Ansara is one of those guys who, no matter how much makeup, you know exactly who he is when he speaks.
I cannot tell a lie. Sunday Morning had an interview with Depp and the director and they mentioned it there. Though they did not use the term 'ripped off'. I think they attributed it to Depp's 'research for the role'.
Tonto was from the Potawatomi tribe.
Potawatomi Indian dress
North Dakota Fighting Sioux logo (designed by a member of the Sioux Nation), BAD
Johnny Depp in clown makeup, GOOD
Doesn’t sound good.
Rationale.
I just thought Indians would be too smart to walk around with a rotting, festering, disease and maggot infested bird stinking up their heads.
When I see a prostitute in the previews, I know it’s NOT a child’s show. And thus not true to the story.
Even without that, I know something’s wrong when Tonto looks like a South American Indian medicine man.
I don’t let my politics control what movies I go to and which ones I do not. I enjoy Depp’s work and my wife and I will be seeing it.
If you don’t like it, don’t go see it.
I have not been to a movie in several years. I used to go regularly but after being appalled at 5 or 6 out of, well, all 5 or 6 movies and experiencing dread that someone would see me seeing this exercise in inanity, I kind of quit paying money for the privilege of being utterly wasting the time.
Does he play Tonto as a metrosexual fop the way he plays that pirate character?
I’m just amazed that they didn’t make The Lone Ranger and Tonto gay lovers. I guess that will be in The Lone Ranger II.
Huh. I always thought he was of the Wanahokalugi tribe...:)
ROFL. Don’t give them any ideas.
IMO his best role was Ed Wood. He was almost perfectly suited to that. It’s all been a downhill slide from there.
That would be The Rump Ranger.
