Condolences and fond memories of a golden era of TV innocence that’s long gone.
My childhood HH idol and adulthood personal friend, Morgus the Magnificent, is a contemporary of Sammy and the other greats. Morgus is still around, energetic and sharp-witted, but he’s getting up there, too.
Sadly, the ranks are thinning.
RIP.
My childhood friend was bemoaning the loss so I tried to cheer him up with ‘I thought he was already dead, maybe he just relocated the crypt.’ He did provide ghoulishly good memories.
How sad. Many wonderful childhood memories associated with him. Mom would let us get a bag of penny candy and stay up late to watch. (It was the only night WE got control of the TV.) And then the rest of us would lie in wait to scare whichever kid had to use the bathroom waaaaay on the other side of the really dark house. Bwahahahaha!
I completely forgot about Sammy. Haven’t heard that name in over 30 years.
In Omaha, we had Dr. Sanguinary.
That’s great that you know Morgus (Sid). I bumped into him once while shopping at the mall. It is kind of surreal when you meet a cult figure in person in a normal setting. Morgus is very easy to recognize even out of makeup.
He had one of those Amish-style neck beards and weighed roughly 300lbs.
Came into the Taco Bell I was working at one time.
Everyone was excited, but we let him eat his enchirito in peace.
I guess that's the case for some people, but I couldn't even pick him out as a character in a movie he made back in the 50s, knowing that he was in it! Of course, this was before I'd seen him out-of-character...
He's a charming and gracious southern gentleman, despite his on-set reputation as being somewhat of a tyrant.
Bump
Is he still around? What time period would that have been?
Early ‘70’s. Moved away in ‘74. Have no idea what ever happened to him.
