Many of the people that you see with dark glasses and a white cane can see just fine. I saw one approach a car, open the driver's door, throw the cane into the back seat and drive off.

He has to fight for his indepence every day and probably wants to be seen as someone who can manage just fine.

If he allows everyone to see him as a cripple then his opportunities will be crippled.

If he allows himself to be influenced by what other think and comes to view himself as a cripple well, there is nothing worse than amputating a man’s self determination.

Anger is not the problem. The problem is their anger has been directed in the wrong direction. The real blame for the issues of the day have been redirected to the wrong causes. Our saviors of the problems are also the enemy. The real savior Jesus and your own power has been suppressed.

Point One: If one helps people with the expectation of obtaining gratitude, or even indifference, in return, one is cruising for a psychological bruising. Point Two: I have seen people with better vision than you described rocking a white cane - so what's this dude's deal? Point Three: Obviously, this man is going through the seven stages of grief regarding his loss of eyesight, and has yet to get past the Anger, and move on to the Acceptance stage.
