A blind couple have told how they found love and got engaged - after their guide dogs became an item. Claire Johnson, 50, first fell for Mark Gaffey, 52, when her dog Venice became friendly with fellow guide dog Rodd at Guide Dog Training classes.
The two dogs - both aged three - became inseparable and soon their owners, who are both registered blind, followed suit.
After an 11-month whirlwind romance, the couple, from Stoke-on-Trent, got engaged and are due to get married next March - with their dogs acting as ring-bearers.
Gaffey, who has been blind since birth, first met Claire when she took her dog Venice to a two-week Guide Dog Training course in Shrewsbury last March.
He said: "During the training our two dogs, Rodd and Venice, seemed to know something we didn't.

Looks like “Venice” is preggers.
Man, I really needed a nice story like this after the deluge of bad stuff that’s come down the pike lately,
“Looks like Venice is preggers.”
That can happen to a bitch who hangs around with Rodd the dog.
The lady’s dog, Venice....
AWWWWWWWWWw...such a sweet story...thanks for posting it!
How can you tell that the dog is “preggers”?
Well, I’ve seen some dogs in my time...and I’ve seen some that are pregnant. In looking at the picture, the fat/loose skin on her lower belly coupled with what looks like dog fur separating from around one or more of her teats leads me to think so.
I could be wrong, but it just looks like it to me she’s early in pregnancy.
Besides, how are them two owners gonna know just what them two dogs did?
Well, if you’re right, I want one of the pups!

My big question is what kind of training were those dogs receiving? I thought that seeing eye dogs had to be all business and weren’t allowed to play with classmates, or they’d get kicked out of the program.
In the US, service dogs are typically neutered/spayed but it may be different in the UK. It’s done to take the sex drive distraction down to a minimum.
Yes, this is really neat!
All I know is what I perceive in the photograph...could be wrong, could be right...dunno.
Honestly, I don’t know. The female dog looked like she was early pregnant, that’s all...I’m probably wrong.
They are beautiful dogs and will make beaautiful pups, if they are not already “fixed”. I’m sure that they are smart too, since they are graduates of the Seeing Eye program.
Personally, I prefer Golden Retrievers, but I appreciate Labs too.
