Saxon Sarcophagus Found at Lincoln Castle

A limestone sarcophagus thought to date to A.D. 900 has been discovered in a Saxon churchyard at Lincoln Castle. At this time, archaeologists can see the side of the coffin; its lid is still covered by approximately nine feet of earth. Endoscopy has shown that the person had been buried with gold objects. “We think it’s somebody terribly important, possibly a bishop or a Saxon king,” said spokesperson Mary Powell.
Archaeologists are very concerned that opening the rare Saxon sarcophagus could cause its contents to disintegrate. They are hoping that the lid with be engraved with information about the identity of the occupant.

It's in northern England, east of Nottinghamshire. I suppose that's where the logs are made.
How can they tell the person buried in the sarcophagus was a Saxon? Could have been an Angle.

I have maps of the castles of the British Isles, but not handy. They are all in banker’s boxes, waiting for me to get them into page protectors and put into loose leaf binders.
But thanks for giving me the location. I appreciate that!
(DNA is the only way I know of to tell for sure “what” a person is: Saxon, Anglo, Norse, Russ, etc.)

How can they tell the person buried in the sarcophagus was a Saxon?Assuming the dating of 900 AD is correct it is likely to be Saxon or possibly a Danish chieftain. Alfred the Great died about that year and the reconquest of England by the Saxons was in its early stages. The Angles were long forgotten.
