Bill Whittle thinks that the Freedom of Speech is in peril, and so is the Freedom of Religion. Hear why on this Afterburner as Whittle reminds you of the importance of our most important civil liberties, and how each is threatened by the expanding welfare state.

Dependence Day is now observed on November 4th.
Whittle is terrific!
Yesterday and today I’ve been watching an 8-hour documentary, “The American Revolution”, on Military TV. It’s impossible to see that, then see this video, and not become seriously depressed. So much was sacrificed, only to have one evil man in the White Hut make the entire effort null and void in a few short years.
No! Get that out of your head now. It is NOT one evil man in the white house
.
It is a hundred evil men in the Senate, and 254 (IIRC) evil men in the House of Representatives, and Nine evil men in the Supreme court, as well as an additional hundreds of evil men running bureaucracies.
The condition of the country is not, and cannot be, ruined by only one man. To say that it can be is to deny all the principals of the Constitution and Declaration at once. And, ultimately, it is our fault, yours and mine, because all that is needed for evil to triumph is for the good to do nothing:
…all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
What you say is technically true. Obama has been a master facilitator in accelerating negative changes; if not for him, it might have been possible to turn things around.
The “one evil man in the White Hut” is just a marionette, dancing on the strings of whoever’s on the other end of his BlackBerry.
We still can, we just need the guts to do things we'd rather not have to do. And if you REALLY look at the crap that's happening a lot of it got started well before Obama, like under Bush or Clinton (ex: Patriot Act/NSA/TSA); so, IMO, we really are fortunate because Obama has reveled these sooner rather than [much] later.
I'm a bit older than most here at Freepers and the evil has always been here but was kept in check until the election of 1960 when the media for the first time truly selected our President. At that time the party of Copperheads, slavery, Jim-Crow and segregation used that same media to veil their true selves and to reintroduce slavery in the form of entitlements.
This is interesting to hear; please tell more.
Thank you, but I think you misunderstood: I was asking for your perspective, your stories (if you will), and your insights on the matter [particularly WRT the rise of Statism].
It will take some time to compose what your asking for. let me just say that I lived in a time where we as a nation had so much more freedom than today.
