Some people in Cedar Rapids saw a unique show on Thursday.
Francis Lebeda shot off his homemade Civil War cannon to celebrate the Fourth of July. The cannon only fired black power, so no one was in danger.
Lebeda has also made three other cannons and a gatling gun.Watch the story above for more details.
I already added the keyword; this deserves a list ping!
Go to the link and watch the video, this guy is awesome.
“The cannon only fired black power, so no one was in danger.”
Ignorance is bliss...unless it gets you killed.
Just makes me shake my head. There’s more stupid in the professional press than there is water in the ocean.
Does he fire the cannon at some chick at the end of the video??
That’s insane...especially given how close she is...
That's bull crap!!!!! As a former Civil War reenactor with years of experience, both infantry and artillery, there is nothing more dangerous than a "homemade" cannon--they are nothing more than bombs waiting to explode.
Little too much grabass and not paying attention got the cannon to fire while he was ramming home the charge. He ended up with 5 sausage fingers on his right hand for about 2 months - and he was considered lucky.
Having done some Civil War reenacting myself I'd have to flip a coin between homemade cannons - or a skittish horse bucking around an Infantry formation.
Now that is a fine looking replica cannon, also quite an artillery collection in his machine shop. ‘Built his own Gatling Gun’, now that is simply outstanding.
Bflr .... Thanks !
Now that old guy is a serious craftsman of weaponry. He could probably turn that thing into a real implement of destruction if he wanted to.
