I will wait (smartly, I think, if I say so myself...) until after the German GP before I comment on the tire situation.

I still think Pirelli should be replaced by next season.....

they've been racing against the tires and not the other teams all season, now the tires are fighting back...

Ha ha!

Only too true (sadly). More restrictions and a bad choice of a tire provider leave less actual driver-to-driver racing. It ends up being who can bend the rules the most without breaking them and still win.

I’m tyred of hearing about tyre problems. Supply safe tires, and do it now.

Pirelli ought to say they won’t supply unsafe tires.

Somebody is going to get killed. I remember Senna, complaining about safety.

If a tread is separating because a team intentionally or unintentionally uses low pressure, that is the team’s fault.

If a team intentionally or accidentally runs the tire in the wrong direction, that is the team’s fault.

If Pirelli knows those to be the case, give specifics and clear yourselves.

The current standoff puts the drivers unnecessarily at great risk.

Get it solved.

Dang, one of three F1 races I have on my ‘bucket’ list, along with Spa (#1) and Monaco (just for the history). Suzuka is another one I’d like to see.

isn't there a problem also with the use of tires on the wrong side of the car?

because of another of Bernie's asshat rules, everyone is trying to stretch the life of a limited number of tires.

I don't remember the term of art for building a tire specific to one side of the car ... A___?

so some teams in practice are scrubbing the tires in their correct placement than switching them over for the race.

the reason being that one edge of the tire wears more rapidly on certain tracks so moving the tires from left to right gives the lesser worn side a chance to scrub when they're run in a race and in theory a longer life ... but now the tires which have belts with a specific bias are on the wrong side for the race

I remember this nightmare with cross mounted Michelin XWXs back in the early 70s ... the steel belts laterally slid out the sidewall below the tread and only the sound of the steel strands brushing against the fender walls saved the day

If this is going to be allowed, and it is extremely dangerous as the belt then wants to fly out from under the tread, then the tires should be placed on the wrong sides for the practice and placed back on the correct side with the less worn edge for the long haul of the race. Bottom line it's another of Bernie's 'green' rules and regulations (one tank of gas, smaller and smaller engines, fewer engines, transmissions and tires) which continue to degrade the sport faster than a cross mounted Pirelli

Bernie's green regs have become the EPA of F1 - sport and safety be damned

i know race tread tires are directional but i never knew slicks were...

that little shite bernie can't achieve room temperature fast enough for me

maybe when the mutt is gone we can get back to real racing again
