MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — The city of Malibu is adopting a zero tolerance policy to visitors who overstay their welcome.

A team of 10 volunteers will go on patrol and issue parking tickets to people who fail to observe time limits.

The parking enforcers can currently hand out warnings.

Starting in mid-July, the volunteers will start writing actual tickets for non-moving violations.

That's been the case for years here in San Diego with the "RSVP" (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).

That was my thought too. What kind of a jerk would volunteer to write parking tickets? Don’t they have enough to do in the HOA with the grass ruler?

I was thinking they’ll be lined-up around the block for that “priviledge”.

Government employees and agencies who do that sort of thing are for some reason NOT THIEVES.

"Volunteers" who do that ARE thieves and deserve to be shot on sight.

I would think so. I would think these tickets could have severe challenges to them.

What happens the first time a “volunteer” gets punched in the face?

Then the real cops come out to shoot you and your little dog too.

I’m surprised the public employee unions would allow this. They wouldn’t allow parents volunteer to pick up trash on their kid’s school grounds where I lived because it was a union job.

That happens to the guy that is trying to film you being arrested to ensure that your civil rights aren't violated - and it is his dog that gets murdered.

There’s also a problem with the local gentry denying access by the public to the public beaches in Malibu. Both of these problems are sideshows compared with real problems, but be sure to hang this on the limo libs who lib, er, lie, er, live there.

Thanks BenLurkin.

In Texas someone would take one of them out, as happened with Arizona trying to use a civilian to protect a speed camera (about 5 years ago). It’s a risky business to be in when you’re not a professional.

For the chance to wear an “official” uniform, many busybody wannabe cop-types will rush to apply.

Anyone see the “Dinette Set” cartoon this week of the volunteer calling on his neighbor’s leaf blower use?

This will undoubtedly be just snooty people who think they have bought beachfront homes, who actually are overlooking public beaches... writing tickets in the public access parking lots because they have not left by nightfall and may want to enjoy some alone time with a special someone watching the sunset.

Or else you’ll be jailed and labeled vigilantes!

Malibu doesn’t want tourists. They want only beautiful people on their streets, in their restaurants and on their beaches.

Good point.

I spoke before I thought. I’m in a small town that needs it’s tourists and that sort of attitude would not be welcome here.

Sure there are.

There was a poll and a bunch of libs said it was fine for the IRS to go after conservatives.
