Armorers who upgunned Old 666, installed a fixed, forward-firing .50 caliber aircraft machine gun for the pilot, Jay Zeamer, to shoot. Old 666 carried 19 .50 machine guns (six more than the other B-17s). The .50 caliber is NOT a cannon — it is smaller than the 20mm machine gun.

A friend of mine was on a gun truck for two tours. I had never seen them and your video was exactly like he described. Right down to the part about standing on layers of ammo boxes at the start and sometimes having none left at the end. Thanks.

My cousin told me about the gun trucks but I did not fully understand until I saw the video. We had some deuce and a half's in the area with quad 50s but that was about it. Had to get up in the middle of the night once and move a couple hundred yards because of b52’s unloading. I can't remember that though.
