I suspect that there is some hopefulness of profit out of the practice, too. Basically, my impression is that Russians, given the right opportunities, are born entrepreneurs and capitalists.
If you have one of these things on your dash on all the time, your chances of catching something odd or sensational get better all the time - the dash cam shots of the meteor, or the Kamikaze Motorcycle on the highway full of traffic, etc.are all chances to make money or get famous, even if only for 15 minutes. Whatever the opportunity, they’ll make the most out of it.

When ya ain't busy and want to see some really STUPID driving tricks caught on dashcam...use keywords Taiwan, motorscooter...especially on Liveleak.com as well as YouTube.
I live here and see it every day....its worse than is shown.
