POLICE Sergeant Don Auld thought a thief had fallen through the ceiling and vomited on the floor when called to a Queensland charity store break-in.

...

The snake had pooed in the St Vincent de Paul store in Ingham and left crockery, clothes and other goods smashed and scattered all over the floor.

The following day, on Tuesday, police were called back to the store after a large crowd formed outside.

...

Police didn't have the skills to bag the burglar, and called in a snake handler to take the 17kg python away.

You never know what you'll find at Goodwill, like a 19 foot long, 37 lb python for example.

I find it hard to believe that a 19 foot python only weighed 38 pounds.

Apparently with all the Pythons infesting Florida, they should put a bounty out on them and also sell the skin for boots/wallets/belts etc.

Pretty sure we have rat snakes around. Hubby found a shed skin last week. And our chipmunk problem has...resolved...

Hey, all I did was translate what was in the story out of metric. Didn’t make much sense to me either.

If it was a male who wasn’t eating frequently, it’s very possible.

Some species get really heavy and others stay slim.

Bob, my common BCI weighs 20 pounds at 7+ feet while Bella, my Panamanian Hypo BCI weighs only 11 at about the same length.

Bob is naturally stocky while Bella is of a more streamlined build.

Police didn't have the skills to bag the burglar,

Cops in the US shoot kids pet golden retrievers yet here they can't even shoot a snake?

Lucky you!

The locals keep killing the snakes and we have rodents, galore.

Somebody smashed a ginormous black rat snake up the road from here that I would have dearly loved to turn loose under my house.

And the neighbors still can’t figure out *why* we have roof rats and mice running amok.

:-\

Hubby only kills ones he’s sure are dangerous (rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, etc). We hate to do that because they eat problem pests too. But we have little kids so can’t take the chance. King snakes and rat snakes though are treated with great respect!

I hate chipmunks. They eat food that my kids would have eaten. And they carry fleas! Bah.

Rat and King snakes [kings, especially, hence their name] will cheerfully chow down on the venomous snakes.

Another very good reason to leave them be.

The guy up the hill dropped off one rat and two garters a couple weeks ago.

It’s not much but it’s a start.

[odds are the big roof rats will eat the smallish snakes, instead]

:(
