Nope. Two wheels in front and wider. Seriously stable and I suspect handles pretty well. I just bought a Scion FRS last month for my 122 mile commute. If they sold this car in KY, I’d almost certainly buy it right now, even with the Scion.

I don’t believe the price, though.

How much is the tilter? It looks pretty cool too.

It gets similar mileage to a cushy bike but the bike can fit two.

If someone is in the market for a covered bike with room for one, I guess this is their ride. There might be a market for it in extremely rainy areas with expensive gas and difficult parking but sales in the USA will be weak.

Looks to me as if you’re promoting a product outright, linking to the manufacturer’s stie and posting their sales FAQ. II thought that was off-limits on FR?

Have they delivered the first vehicle yet? At what price?

It has no windshield wiper, so essentially undriveable in the rain. At least the Tilter has a wiper.

It seats two and unlike other Three wheelers, it is front engine with front wheel drive.

If they can sell that for $6,800, it’s worth every dime. The Can Am goes for what, $20,000?

Don’t know how they can make a profit with three airbags and A/C standard. Looks like a great commuter car for that kind of money and mileage IMHO.

I’m sure the Production Model will have a Windshield Wiper.

The ones pictured are not Production, they are Prototypes.

That looks like a very basic knockoff of the Toyota i-Road electric vehicle.

It has so-called “active lean” technology to keep such a narrow vehicle stable in turns. It’s sort of cool in a Tron-like way, the Toyota concept is at least.

This link shows a video of several prototypes on the road:

I say from the FAQ alone they are a scam.

They probably don’t have a serious business plan or the ability to scale distribution.

Now you are tempting me. Sound-dampened enclosed cab so no dust and vastly reduced noise, a big increase in speed...

I don't mind its looks. Reminds me a bit of a Lotus Super Seven.

A better car is the 3 wheeled Morgan—They were a hit in the 1930s and they are bringing them back with a big Harley Engine. They get about 90 miles per gallon and are fun and fast. Check them out—Morgan has a great web page.

It needs 440hp and to be about as wide in the interior as a really comfortable armchair, so it can fly through the air with the greatest of ease....

It needs 440hp

Since the Elio is the product of a very small company, I have my doubts that much engineering expertise went into its design. That kind of horsepower would bring out all its design flaws.

I wonder if it has oversteer problems.

Looks to be the perfect size to be crushed between two semis that haven’t noticed it. Actually, it appears to be pre-flattened which the builder could tout as a benefit.

sorry it looked that way. I was just interested in a 2nd car/backup and at least this one would be made in America. Dunno how they would keep th price down if it is listed as a car and not a motorcycle.

You get used to it. In seattle I rode from south king county to north king county to work every day, year around, on a motorcycle. I had a snowmobile suit I wore in the winter, though I used my car if the roads were slick with ice or snow. Much of it was in blinding rainstorms at night. Never went down.

I’m not into accident survival. Rather, I’m all over “accident avoidance” and did it many times. Still do. The way I drive, it is a prerequisite or I’d be dead or maimed by now.

A road vehicle with an engine and four wheels that can carry a small number of passengers.

So three wheels makes it suddenly not a car...

I’d think that the litmust test would be more than 2 wheels. The reason is simple. One or two wheels requires you to use centrifical force and the gyroscope principle to stay verticle. Three wheels or more gives you a solid platform, even at rest.

All stools have three or more legs. I would think all cars would have three or more wheels and anything less would be a motorcycle.

I’m not arguing with you. I’m just saying how it would be if I were dictator. ;-)
