Photo of 2 boys standing at attention during the national anthem (July 4)

This photo was taken and posted on Facebook by a woman named Cindy Flannagan Hendrix on the facebook group, Submarine wives. Her caption is below the pic:

***I TOOK THIS PHOTO THROUGH THE WINDOW INSIDE MY HOUSE***Felt the need to share this picture I took yesterday. We are currently stationed in Albuquerque NM. These boys got off their bikes at 5pm as colors and the National anthem started. They stood at attention in the direction of the flag and didn't move until it was done. I was most impressed with the removal of their helmets. This made my day seeing this. Their parents are raising a couple of fine little men.

Well, the boys have their backs turned so they couldn’t easily be identified for corrective action by local Democrats.

Fortunately the Albuquerque mayor is a Republican, so it is not likely he’d allow the sheriff to swear out arrest warrants on the boys (for the crime of possibly making “progressive” elements in the community uncomfortable).

That is a great picture and a better story.

I was most impressed with the removal of their helmets.

Too bad they didn't know the day when there wasn't such government oppression when they could ride their bikes without their helmets.

Take that with a grain of salt. There weren't any helmets for bike riding when I was kid. Helmets were just coming in "fashion" for hockey. I played hockey on a pond, without parents or adults, and without a helmet when I was kid. It is amazing that I survived. (major sarcasm tag)

Are you sure this was not a picture in the 80’s? s/

Well come on, it's the wrong flag. If you want him to salute you have to raise this one......

Up until last year, our public elementary school had a huge banner in the lobby that read “In God We Trust”. I live in Maryland, so I can tell you that this is no small thing.

Of course... that was “up til last year.” I don’t know why it was taken down, and I admit, I didn’t pursue asking.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS AND OUR BELOVED NATION!

The Star Spangled Banner – Verse Four
(Click)

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Please let me know by Freepmail if you would like
to be admitted to or released from my music ping list

"Riamh nár dhruid ó sbairn lann!"

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Ouch.

What a thing to see...when some healthy people will not stop talking and even stop walking during the anthem.

What an effort this must have taken to “stand”.

If there is still hope for America it is with young men like this.

I stopped, looked, copied and looked again. Don’t understand the “submarine wife” or even if this is on base.

This is the United States I remember. It is why I so much enjoy visiting my children on base. I’ve often made it a point to be walking about for evening colors just to see something familiar like this again.

Growing up on base can be a wonderful thing but you certainly feel like a true outsider when you leave that sheltered and patriotic environment. I expect this will change soon and terribly as well.

other than jumping out of airplanes, the best part of jump school was evening colors. i presume everyone on base still stops and gets out of their car for eveming colors. and woe be the soldier caught trying to duck inside a building and seen by a senior nco.

In base housing apparently. Children of at least one service member who is raising them right.

Sounds like they have parents who have endeavored to raise them boys in the way they should go.I pray the public education system and peer pressure by the MTV crowd —the natural mans inclination to rebellion will not diminish the love and respect they manifest in this photo.

Great post! Now lots of people will see this photo and pray for these two boys. Their parents are indeed raising them well.
