Archaeologists believe they have found a vampire grave on a construction site in the south of Poland.

Skeletons were found with their heads removed and placed on their legs, indicating they had been subjected to an execution ritual designed to ensure the dead stayed dead.

An individual accused of being a vampire in Europe’s distant past faced a grim fate. Sometimes they would be decapitated, otherwise they might be hanged from a gibbet until decomposition resulted in the head separating from the body. In both cases the head was then laid on the legs of the victim in the hope that an inability to locate their head would hinder those intent on rising from the grave.

Historians say that the practice was common in the Slavic lands during the decades following the adoption of Christianity by pagan tribes.

If gibbets aren’t banned in Washington, D.C., they may be on to something.

An individual accused of being a vampire in Europe’s distant past faced a grim fate.

Doesn't hold a candle to what Vlad the Impaler did to the Ottoman Muslim invaders.

...in 1459, Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II sent envoys to Vlad to urge him to pay a delayed tribute of 10,000 ducats and 500 recruits into the Ottoman forces. Vlad refused, because if he had paid the 'tribute', as the tax was called at the time, it would have meant a public acceptance of Wallachia as part of the Ottoman Empire. Vlad, just like most of his predecessors and successors, had as a primary goal to keep Wallachia as independent as possible. Vlad had the Turkish envoys killed on the pretext that they had refused to raise their "hats" to him, by nailing their turbans to their heads.
...
Impalement was Vlad's preferred method of torture and execution. Several woodcuts from German pamphlets of the late 15th and early 16th centuries show Vlad feasting in a forest of stakes and their grisly burdens outside Brașov, while a nearby executioner cuts apart other victims. It was reported that an invading Ottoman army turned back in fright when it encountered thousands of rotting corpses on the banks of the Danube. It has also been said that in 1462 Mehmed II, the conqueror of Constantinople, a man noted for his own psychological warfare tactics, returned to Constantinople after being sickened by the sight of 20,000 impaled corpses outside Vlad's capital of Târgoviște.

That’s the one thing with living in Santa Monica. All those DAMN vampires.

Oh wait, this is Poland, and we’re talking about blood sucking ghouls and not liberals? My mistake.

“Vlad had the Turkish envoys killed on the pretext that they had refused to raise their “hats” to him, by nailing their turbans to their heads.”

Plus, he annihilated thousands of the muzzies in the Turks, thanked by the Church for defending the west against the mooslum mongrels. Of course, he was pissed that his own father gave him away to the muslims when was young.

For the last time, stop blaming me for Twilight!

It wasn’t my fault.

And even if it was my fault, I’ll never take bribe money——.

I mean, not my fault.
