Is he just being stubborn at being wrong or is it an oversight that he has not removed this junk yet?

His two points were that (1) Zimmerman had a round in the chamber and (2) that Zimmerman had the safety off.

(1) The purpose of carrying is to have a round ready to fire. Had Zimmerman not had a round in the chamber, he would have had to work the slide, giving Trayvon plenty of time to take the Keltec PF9 away from him and shoot him with it.

(2) The Keltec PF9 is DAO, (double-action only, just like a double-action revolver) and has no safety to engage.

Up until this point I gave Savage a pass. Now I know for sure that he spouts off about things of which he has very limited knowledge, knowledge that could be gained in fifteen minutes of research.

Michael is dead to me now.

Michael Weiner’s (his real name) whole schtick, and it is just that, wore very thin on me a number of years ago and I haven’t listened to a moment of his show since. A little too much fake bombast, fixation on his miniature dog, and over the top egotistical disparagement of anyone he considers “competition” on the right hand side of the radio dial.

This is the public anti-gun side of Savage! I personally know of “NO” concealed carrying folks who carry unloaded, because no round in the chamber.... the gun is a club!

It is still done using older design revolvers without hammer blocks or rebounding hammers.

Early and original Colt Peacemakers, early production Ruger Blackhawks, almost all black powder revolvers and cheap .22 revolvers should still be done that way.

Bumping the hammer on these with a round under the hammer will cause a Barney Fife.

There is a fear among some revolver owners of dropping the revolver and having a round go off. So they carry the revolver with the hammer on an empty cylinder. As for a semi-auto, I guess the same reasoning would apply. Someone might be afraid that a round would go off if the gun were dropped. The main problem with carrying a semi-auto with no round in the chamber would be that if someone needed to fire, and had almost time, they would have to rack a round in the chamber, and a small delay could be fatal to them. Zimmerman’s life hung on his ability to get one round off. Had he needed to rack a round in the chamber, he might be dead now.

Would anyone carry a revolver with an empty cylinder?

With some guns.

The cylinder under the hammer will actually not be the cylinder fired on the next trigger-pull. It will actually be fired last.

Some of the early Ruger Blackhawks did not have a hammer-block safety, and if you dropped it on the hammer it could fire if there was a round in the cylinder.

The workaround was to leave the cylinder under the hammer empty until you could send it in and have Ruger upgrade it to a hammer-block.

Weiner is the only “right-wing” talk show host who takes times to disparage other rw hosts. I know of no other rw host who does that. That says it all about Weiner for me. In a medium where people with strong egos are not scarce, Weiner’s blasts at other rw hosts makes him sound like an super-egotistical, insecure jerk.

Yes I know he’s a bit eccentric, while others call him crazy. “Savage” is his real name, by the way, since he had it legally changed. His eccentricities can often be attributed to the rage he feels because of what’s been done to his country. I empathize, but have more self-control. I thought about calling his show once but then reconsidered, assuming I’d just be screamed at and hung up on for a minor disagreement.

This is not the first time he’s been in trouble with other conservatives. As I’ve said, he is sometimes wrong on minor issues.

A Single Action Revolver can be cocked and fired using one hand. Having the Hammer on an empty chamber on either a Single or Double Action Revolver does not impact its effectiveness if needed, outside of only having 5 Rounds.

A Semi Auto without a chambered round requires two hands to cock and fire. If you only have one hand free, it’s a brick, not a gun.
