Sorry Charlie, nothing’s free. Someone has to pay for it. And, what about the millions of college attendees that have thousands in student loans. Simply wipe the slate and call all of them paid in full? Love how Democrats spend other peoples’ money.

Too bad Rangel never had the chance to go to college. If he had, some economics might have rubbed off on him.

Then again, maybe not.

Why do we charge people for food? The fact that our streets are not filled with starving citizens would appear to be a benefit to all, therefore all food should be free ...

Imagine all the waste, if people with no intentions of really learning anything, didn't have to pay for it. One big free party.

Meanwhile, those who really want a life and to make something of themselves, can't get in, because lack of staff and facilities.

Why didn’t we think of that?

Why stop there? Let’s erase all consumer debts to include mortgages, student loans, and automobiles. Let’s just erase our national debt!

Brilliant. This will work so well!

I wonder if Rangel is smart enough to know that this would make a college degree the functional equivalent of a current high school diploma.

Judging from his ethics violations, I’m guessing he isn’t.

Not that the education you get from colleges these days is worth a spit, but can you imagine what will pass for advanced education if it is free?

You mean just like high school? That is why entering freshmen have to take all those remedial courses. I guess we could offer the remedial courses when you go for your masters or doctorate now, (assuming students will have to pay for those.)

Fine,if professors agree to work for free, the electric company provides service for free, book companies provide them for free, computer companies like Apple provide them for free, same for pencil, paper, food housing is provided for free, this would be great, hey maybe Congress and all of Washington could work for free!
Why the hell didn’t we think of this before! Way to go Charlie

Public education coasts between $10-$11+K a year per student. Imagine if parents were responsible for paying the full load of their kids. I’m sure a lot more kids would be doing a lot better in school.

Don't forget someone would have to donate land for schools. Someone would have to donate building materials. Construction workers would have to work for free, building the schools. Maintenance workers would have to work for free keeping the buildings up and running. Then every 10 years or so, when they remodel or update, more material would have to be given, AGAIN, and the workers would have to comeback and work for free, AGAIN.

Imagine, football stadiums and sports arenas at colleges, ALL FREE.

Hey look...There goes a unicorn.

Need to just plain stop student loans also, (the main reason for stupid waste of time degrees.) With the lack of education from public education, we could then cut back on welfare, (like that will ever happen,) since the kids could get jobs and help support the family.

Shouldn't professional sports also be free? We could give away seats by a free lottery!
