Stolen bus got 90 miles away before it was stopped and the driver arrested
Authorities say a shirtless man who allegedly stole an Alameda County Transit bus from a San Francisco terminal drove it 100 miles before being arrested in Stanislaus County.
CHP spokesman James Smith said the spikes stopped the AC Transit bus by blowing out its front and rear tires near Modesto on state Route 120 and McHenry Avenue in Escalon about 10:30 a.m.
A viewer with our Sacramento affiliate KCRA sent in video of the pursuit. Click here to watch.
The CHP out of Stockton said its officers noticed a transit bus had either its emergency sign or its "out of service" light on while driving on Highway 120.
When they tried to initiate a stop the driver didn't listen, and a chase began just after 9:20 a.m. When they finally stopped the bus, however, officers said they arrested Justin Moss, 29, without incident.
The pursuit was approximately 19 miles and lasted approximately 20 minutes, according to the CHP.
Moss's motivation for allegedly stealing a bus was not clear.
He faces charges including reckless driving, failure to yield, and grand theft.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Department told NBC Bay Area the bus was stolen out of a temporary yard in San Francisco.
Chopper video from above the scene showed the front tires were gone and the bus was sitting on its front rims.
The bus was outfitted with a GPS system which allowed the CHP to track it.
No one was on the bus, no one was injured.
Does Alameda County ban stealing buses, unless you are wearing a shirt?
He’s a Dreamer. Let him go.
6th grade math problem:
If you steal a bus and drive 19 miles in 20 minutes, how many months before you get probation?
I guess he wanted to take the bus home.
Hey, if you’re going to twist off, twist off big.
I would like to share an experience with you about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.
Well, over the weekend my friend & I attended a Christmas party & knowing full well we may have been over the limit, I decided to do something I’ve never done before - take a bus home!
Arrived back home safely and without incident which was a real surprise, since I had never even driven a bus before and am not sure where I got this one.

If this bus goes under 50 mph...
Dagnabit, I hate pop quizzes.
Based on what I’ve seen from bus drivers, this guy’s driving was probably an improvement.
Moss's motivation for allegedly stealing a bus was not clear.
I'll put a nickel on aggravated stupidity.
