RE: Joe Bastardi
Hasn’t he ever thought of changing his family name? Just asking.
In this corner! Weighing in at 97 pounds, Bill Nye!
Buy coffee this weekend !
Joe Bastardi does the best weather reports. I used to watch his reports on Yahoo years before Fox News “discovered” him.
I heard she was going to change it to LeBatard a la the ESPN guy.
In England, the joke is "My mother was a Bastard, you know." (The Bastards were a very posh "County" fox-hunting, royal pals, Lady Di sort of family.)
E.G. , Before he was "William the Conqueror," he was "Willie the French Bastard."
Me, too. If I had my life to live over I would want to be a meteorologist. I learned so much from his Yahoo posts. Gosh, that seems so long ago.
At 37,500lbs per trading unit, it takes big money to play around with coffee.
There are mini-futures (12,500 lbs) ... but no "options". Sell the contract, or take delivery. None of this allowing it to fall to the floor useless, taking the hit only of what the option feature had cost$ upfront (i think) thus limiting one's losses to that amount.
My own biggest [green] coffee buys were only a few thousand dollars. Just reading the exchange rules gives me a headache. If I had to play, I'd likely have a heart attack.
But now you've got me having to listen to his weather, wondering about Brazil. The trouble is (or a semi-blessing is?) since Vietnam has brought their own increased coffee production to market, as I understand it, the quality has come up, making Vietnamese coffee something of a ready alternative for Brazilian robusta stocks, taking some of the shock out of Brazilian losses. Never mind those two are not technically "C" coffee.
..but let's see here....he's a good weather guy...but is he timing things properly? Frankly, I don't know, having not been able to keep track of those seasons, since I never focused on Brazil per se, coffee-wise, since I was stuck in the spot market regardless. Whatever rolled down the pike.
Ok, now I heard him say it. Dang you. I had to go to the link, and at least start reading the article before beginning a comment. Now look what you've gone and done. It made me break a perfectly good, long established tradition. Whatta' trying to wreck the joint?
Funny guy. Just suggesting you buy coffee from the supermarket this weekend. Predicting weather is very difficult and that is Joe’s recommendation. Personally think bullets are a better investment right now, cause we gonna be fighting over that food before too long.
So now you tell me. What if I had gone long, big time?
You probably drink "instant". :^)
