I swam the Delaware at Philadelphia to Camden and back on a similar fuel. Pretty stupid too. The current had me swimming as hard as I could at a 60 degree angle to the shoreline so I wouldn't end up five miles downstream.

Old logs, garbage, a dead animal bloated, and lord knows what else I swam thru.

Needed more liquid courage when I was done too!

Given the attraction of the “Windsor Ballet”, I can see why he would want to swim back at 00:50. Was he arrested with a roll of dollar bills?

A few years ago someone dressed as Santa Claus windsurfed over from Canada to Buffalo. He was arrested for entering the US illegally.

I’m guessing he was pretty well sober by the time he got to the Detroit side.

I hope he did not take any ‘natural breaks’ and pollute that fine river.

Maybe Detroit can set this up as a sporting event and make some money betting on the various odds, one mile, five, completion, survival after landing ... you know, the usual.

OK at that I had to give him a lot of credit for having big brass ones

And I give him lots more credit for swimming back away from Detroit!

He swam the freakin' river twice!

It appears that he self-deported.

How wide is the river at the point he swam?

Yep...

ever since that song came out, I’ve “given props” to Windsor as “South Detroit”; check the map.

Non-sequitor

Depth and current speed are more important...

Pass out and, by morning, you’ll be going over Niagra Falls! [/hyperbole]

I believe Windsor is the only Canadian city south of anywhere in the USA.

I’d need a lot more than eight beers to swim to Detroit.
