We were gone for a week and the pets were boarded. Our big Maine Coon was “short tempered” with the people at the kennel but was affectionate with us when we picked him up.

One thing shocked me, the kid who carried him out held him like you see some people hold “show” cats with the cat standing on his forearms. I was shocked that the cat went along with it and the kid could support the weight!

Our cat walks around the house complaining for 24 hours. Then he forgets.

The best the guy can hope for is that the cat didn’t poop in his shoes...

I have an old cat friend up in Arlington who I hadn’t seen for a couple of years. I stopped by, it took a few minutes for him to recognize who I was, then he rushed out from underneath a car and he was *all over* me.

Great kitty. It’s always a treat to spend a little time with him. I house-sat for his humans for a few weeks once. I’m told he slept on my bed in the guest room for weeks after that. Animal buddies...

Some of my cats have been overjoyed to see me return and some have turned cold shoulders and kept grudges for hours or even a day.

I think they plot and plan together because all would act one way or the other in unison.

A friend of mine left her two cats with me when she went on vacation for a month. When she came back to get them, the male cat jumped out of her car and ran back to my front door, where he waited for me to let him back in. I don’t think she ever forgave me for the cat’s behavior.

Your favorite cat was talking behind your back while you were in the horsepistol. That’s why the other two ignored you while No. 1 then sucked up upon your return.

Maybe, but there are six of them and they usually dislike each other too much to cooperate on amything. Maybe this was a special case.

They are devious little buggers!

On a good day.

(by the way, I hope all is well and you’ve fully recovered).

Thanks. It was pneumonia and it nearly killed me. All is well now.

Ha-ha! When I return from 3 weeks' vacation, one of my cats (the little DSH rescue girl, Kefira) punishes me by hiding for most of the day. "You left me!" Then she comes out and wants to be petted. A lot.

The giant Maine Coon, Bijou, comes rushing right over, crying piteously and asking to be petted. She then voices a whole agenda of complaints about (1) not petted every 15 minutes by the caretaker, (2) not being given a tummy rub, (3) not having any lap to take over or shoulder to drape her large self over, etc. She felt that, as a complete diva, she was not accorded status appropriate to her exalted station. Then she rolls over for her tummy to be rubbed. Now.

Years ago I had my son baby sit my dog while I went on vacation...when I went to pick her up, she sat next to my son and turned her back to me...wouldn’t come when I called her, so I guess she was P Oed that I left her. It was the first time she had been left with anyone...couldn’t help but laugh, she got her point across that she was mad at me....When we got back home she was happier...silly girl..:O)

I have a little tabby cat.
A couple of days a week I work double shifts.
I'm not home much.

When I do get back to my house, my kitty always greets me loudly-she's very vocal, and demands to be petted, purs, and she sits next to me wherever I am in the house.
She acts more like a dog is supposed to, when I get home.

But, my mom has a dog who, if they leave him and go out of town, will routinely ignore them for 2-3 days after they get back.

Maybe he's a cat in a dog costume?
