Our cocker spaniel, Peanut, was in her wire kennel one day when the gas man came in to read the meter in the basement. She lunged for him and broke down the entire kennel and flew at him growling the whole way. He made it into the stairway and I got the door closed. I had to restrain her till he left, as her kennel needed to be put back together. Never saw anything like it, she was a gentle dog otherwise. She just went berserk that day.

my two could quite possibly lick someone to death, but never growl at or bite anyone. I have heard cockers were a bit temperamental.

well, the girls and Rowan all thought Buffy was terrifying yesterday. They screamed in fear all day while Buffy ran after them in glee at having “playmates”. took Rowan till 8pm that night to finally pet her. Buffy was zonked on the floor when he finally got down next to her and petted her. I knew it would take all day. the girls still want a puppy of their own though. LOL

ten to one the guy’s an arab.

Did you see about the lady in Britain who worked for the BBC and she called for a taxi for her daughter and requested a "non-Asian" (read: non-Arab) and was told that was racist.

It somehow got public and she got fired.

It helps to know that "Asian" cab drivers in England seem to like to take females to secluded areas and rape them. Especially if they call for a ride home from the pub. It's all kept hush hush, of course.

Speak for yourself......I have the Ukrainian Russian family and a Pakistani family behind me. The family from India down the street moved. There are two more families who are from Pakistan or India...who really knows. The Lebanese family lives up the street and the Hong Kong family on the street behind me. And I live in a little redneck village in upstate NY.

So is the repairwimp gone, and are your hellhounds out of detention yet? I leashed Husky girl when the A/C repairman came, and I do when I get to borrow one of the guys on the crew for work here, and she sits down right beside me-but she is a big dog, and I’ve heard-though not seen-that some Huskies can be guard-like.

I can’t imagine what that guy thought your cuties would do-maybe bite him until he gave them treats?

I wonder what he would do if he heard my neighbor’s Mastiff baying on the other side of a locked door the whole time he was working? I’d pay real money to see that...

I was speaking for myself. You must be getting overspill from NYC.

I dont go around my neighborhood counting noses, but interactions in the area cause me to believe the census stats. We’re in the high 90s white in my county and township. There is nothing here to pull in immigrants, apart from whatever the Chinese restaurants are up to.

Now my company, and others, and the medical industry brings in immigrants. But that is professionals.

I imagine there really is a company policy. You can’t rely on the breed or the owner to make the workplace safe.

When I’m working in someone’s house, I expect that they will keep their dog(s) from attacking me, wrecking the work area or carrying off my tools-that is only reasonable. But I do not ever try to tell them HOW they will accomplish that-if I did, it would be the last time I ever did work for them again or even got a referral-it is their property, and their pet-not mine. I always give my customer the utmost respect, no matter what I may think-they are paying me, after all.

I expect the same consideration from anyone who works at my home, no exceptions-they had better not forget that I’m the customer-the one who writes the check. There are plenty of small companies around that do not dictate to customers, and I’d rather give my business to a fellow small contractor, anyway-but that is just me.

I do realize I think that way because I work for myself, and most businesses out here are contract labor, run by one or two people out of their homes, making their own work rules, just like I do.

Large companies must have plans to ensure employee safety.

Things happen. People sue.

It is perfectly rational to me.

Rational, maybe-in this litigious society, everyone with a substantial insurance policy or bank account is a target-it is still counter productive, in my opinion-might as well call it retail malpractice insurance.

I prefer to stick with the small companies and customers-neither of us have anything to gain from lawsuits but ill will. I was a workers comp case manager too long to be a fan of litigation over stupid stuff...

If the company providing the service can rely on the homeowners to have adequate liability insurance then they probably would not have to insist.

You know how real people are.

Over spill from NYC is right. The paki out back drives for a car service in NYC and only comes out here when he is off. His wife lives here alone most of the time, unless the house is filled to overflowing with their friends and relatives. In fact, I haven’t seen him in many, many months. Wonder if he is back in the old country?
