Kevin Spacey on Obama, Congress

“House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey thinks President Barack Obama deserves more credit for what he’s accomplished.

“President Obama will go down as having passed some of the most historic bills in the history of this country,” Spacey told Hot Press magazine in a recent interview. “That despite constant knee-jerk opposition from the Republicans. A lot of people don’t realize how much he’s done in the most difficult of circumstances.”

As for Congress, Spacey is less impressed.

“It’s maybe interesting for an American audience that’s sat through the most non-productive Congress in the history of the United States, in terms of bills passed, to watch a fictional show [“House of Cards”] where some bills actually get passed,” he said.

On “House of Cards,” Spacey plays a congressman who will stop at nothing to advance his own career. The role, which earned him an Emmy nod, intrigued the actor who said he’s “been around politics from a very young age.”

not smart enough to go piss off half his potential audience...or maybe he thinks Hollyweird is flopping so badly because they are just putting out garbage movies...

I’m with Kevin on this. Barry deserve more credit for all of the “phony” scandals going on in his regime and his failed ObamaCare jirclecerk. Unfortunately, the Kenyan always wants to blame everyone else for HIS failures.

You're right. We don't. Because he hasn't.

The original Brit version of this series has held up very well, we binge watched the entire set a couple of weeks ago. Not sure how it would translate into US politics.

these people actually think Martin Sheen was a President and the writers that tell them what to say know more about the country than the framers of the constitution.

Yup....I think the reason movies are losing out $$ is that more people like me aren’t going if someone is in it that has shot his mouth off....It was better when actors were a “mystery” or the studios managed their PR.

All I can see in the character they are playing is their stupid comments...so I don’t enjoy it.
