God got it wrong?
Or right here:
Sorry, but this guy is just senile anymore.
In the words of that Great Statesmen and Theologian Jimi Hendrix
Is this Love... baby
or is it ...uh...C-O-N-F-U-S-I-O-N.
I’d suggest that its confusion.
God doesnt MAKE mistakes
Whether he’s wrong or not, the Gaystapo will take this seeming capitulation and run with it to the goal line of “inevitability.”
Not only is he just senile but he’s gonna lead a lot of people to hell if CBN does not pull him from that show and pronto!
I wonder if his apologists will claim the “out of context” defense like the Catholics did with Francis.
Hello doctor, looks like I need an abortion.
Yeah, I’ve got one growing inside me.
Now, are you gonna scramble its brains
or just vacuum it out? ...If you want
you can just scramble it and I’ll queef
it out myself.
Mmrs. Garrison, you can’t have an abortion.
Don’t you tell me what I can and can’t
do with my body! A woman has a right
No, I mean you’re physically unable
to have an abortion, because you can’t
But I missed my period.
You can’t have periods either. You
had a sex change, Mr. Garrison, but
you don’t have ovaries or a womb. You
don’t produce eggs.
You mean, I’ll never know what it feels
like to have a baby growing inside me
and then scramble its brains and vacuum
But I paid five thousand dollars to
be a woman. This would mean I I’m not
really a woman. Ih, I’m just a... a
I’m just a guy with a mutilated penis!
...Oh boy, do I feel like a jackass.
Do you love the way that South Park just nails it on the head?
He went out of his way to make those comments. He wasn’t even asked his view on sex changes, he was asked about dealing with people who have had sex changes.
Pat is leaning on his own understanding I’m afraid.
What level of alteration is OK?
Circumcision--cleared by The Almighty.
Piercings (ears, eyebrows, lips tongues, belly buttons, etc.)?
We accept the medically necessary that might otherwise be considered mutilation, in order to save life itself.
Face lifts, tummy tucks, etc.?
Is this just another optional modification, albeit extreme?
While other optional modifications are generally done to make a person feel more beautiful (keeping in mind that our Creator made us as He would have us), is it sinful to make the lesser changes, and if not, why the greater ones?
It still does not change the person--the DNA remains the same.
Mind you, I'm NOT arguing for such self-mutilation, even at the hands of a qualified surgeon, I'm just trying to look at the whole issue of optional body modification. Is there a point where the modification becomes a sin, and if so, where?
Amen! His family really needs to sit him down for an intervention and get him to retire from television.
Pat is diving the 700 Club and CBN in the ground.
It will be hard for people to claim PR is taking this out of context.
He admits that he has two sex-changers who work for him on his staff.
Like I said on another thread, we donate to CBN because of its work done overseas-—feeding kids, helping with disasters, spreading the Gospel. But that stops now. There are plenty of organizations that do the same thing.
“He admits that he has two sex-changers who work for him on his staff.”
Robertson said this? What kind of place is CBN? Sounds like Moss Eisley Spaceport.
Why should he let that get in the way of Catholic bashing on a thread not involving Catholics? /s
Well, I think I took a fair look at the Francis flap. The biggest, and probably only really serious, concern is that he (speaking in Italian) used the term “gay” literally borrowed into Italian. However this got rendered as “gay” in English. If anyone needs for the Lord’s sake to not slip into this dastardly euphemism (rejoicing in iniquity isn’t “gay” in any manner) it’s an influential Christian luminary. It could be a one off for Francis if he takes warning about saying “gay” in Italian again except to disparage the term.
But Pat... it’s unclear on the surface what context could “clarify” it to be something satisfactory... but again did he get asked a trick question, like what do they do with a boy born sans penis or a girl born sans vagina, or with one of the rare XXY children. Let’s find out at least that.
“Why should he let that get in the way of Catholic bashing on a thread not involving Catholics? /s”
Was thinking the same thing, it has never stopped Pat before.
One man’s bash is another man’s honest criticism.
We’re Christians, not cats. The meowing should stop.
You know what Cathy? My mom says it’s just best to give money to your church than to give to these big organizations. If you want to help kids overseas then help missionaries in your church, my mom says that is best. That way you know where the money is going.
It’s not Meowing, more of a cat fight.
I thought the generation that took Pat Robertson seriously would have died off now.
Roamin’ Catolics? Vs. Protestomcats?
And/or just saying what will keep the donations rolling in but senilty is probably lurking in that brain somewhere too
I think your mom is right.
I’ve often wondered that, too. Even little things like dying one’s hair, putting on makeup, wearing a toupee, even dressing to hide one’s figure flaws, aren’t we saying we aren’t happy with the way God made us?
Well he was an old Baptist luminary who mostly had some sense. The SBC, at least, has firmed up doctrine after Pat’s time of service. Such surgeries, in the absence of some genuine phenotypic abnormality, are simply mutilations and acts of hate. They aren’t unforgiveable sins, there is only one unforgiveable sin (refusal to accept the Holy Spirit’s leading to believe Jesus according to the gospel promise), but to say there’s nothing wrong with that... he’s losing marbles.
Who bashed Catholics? I was pointing out the recent similar comment made by Francis, which is pertinent to this thread in that the Gaystapo will run with it.
A boy who has his penis removed is still a boy. A girl who has her breasts removed is still a girl.
That’s not what I talked about here
The Baptist word for this with a believer is 'backsliding' (Baptists are not afraid to use colorful language in preaching). Such a person is in heightened danger of divine discipline lest he do much more damage.
Actually it means the opposite sex isn’t happy with the way one is made.
Baptists should use the word scripture uses: carnal. Fleshly.
Call it what it is, not what the left wants you to call it. HOMOSEXUAL, because there's nothing GAY about it.
I think he may be talking about Hermaphrodites vs thinking you are female when you have the plumbing of a boy and chromosomes to match.
And they do, as well. Backsliding is an Old Testament term which might or might not be literally apropos as it describes the behavior of a group, not of an individual, without explaining how it got that way (shift in individuals’ behavior? shift in membership?) but it tells more than “carnal” does. I don’t get bent out of shape at this terminology, I know what they mean and it’s clear enough.
Ack pht this is a stinky litter box.
But they are more open minded towards other Christians (they call them English). Sounds to me like legalism as it is as possible to sin vigorously without modern conveniences as it is with modern conveniences. They’d be better off using whatever is needed to glorify the Lord as the Lord provides it without putting an artificial limit on what He can provide. What Amish would ever preach the gospel on Facebook? But I do....
Christ: "I never knew you"
Having spent more time in Baptist churches than any other denomination, and a youth pastor in a Baptist church, and having more Baptist pastors as my friends than any other group, I just love tweaking my Baptist brethren about their idiosyncracies..... ;-)
Dreadful scenario but that’s one hypothesis... he never accepted salvation, he was simply a “good Baptist” in the flesh and nobody prodded deeply enough to see if what he claimed was plausibly so.
