wow.

Its like that in a lot of languages, a short word in English might be long in another or vice versa for a long word.

I think Korean might be the only language where Neh (nay) means YES

I recently watched the Swedish version of the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. Darn good, BTW.

What amazed me was how much Swedish sounds like English. As if you aren’t listening to the words themselves, just the sound of the language. It’s easy to spot Italian, Spanish, German, French, etc.

But Swedish sounds just like English.

I was looking at a book a few years ago that was a history of the world through the prism of language. It made the point that, unlike English or Spanish, German had never caught on anywhere.

The Swedish “version” is the original, isn’t it?

In modern Greek the word nai meaning "yes" is pronounced "neh." In ancient Greek it was spelled the same but pronounced like "nigh." (One example is in Matt. 5.37.)

In modern Greek the word for "no" sounds similar to our word "OK."

If French is the language of love, German is the language of hate.

european languages are similar but different in the way asian languages are.

Chinese shows online grate on my hearing like nails on a chalkboard (but if Rainie Yang is in it, its worth it). Japanese sometimes is simply annoying....

Korean, I like a lot.

I like German when Rammstein sings it.
