Glenn Beck Goes Off: ‘I Was Diane Sawyer’s Little Bitch,’ ‘She Became A Bigot’
Mediaite ^ | , July 31st, 2013 | Andrew Kirell

Posted on 08/01/2013 9:30:56 AM PDT by Mozilla

On his radio show this morning, Glenn Beck not-so-fondly recalls the time he was employed by ABC News and became Diane Sawyer‘s “little bitch” before their working relationship soured and “she became the biggest bigot I’ve ever seen.”

According to Beck, during his brief stint as an ABC contributor, Sawyer was fond of him and would call him up frequently to discuss what sorts of ideas she had for improving television. “I was Diane Sawyer’s little bitch,” he told his co-hosts today, recalling how she’d call and e-mail him so frequently his wife became concerned.

However, he alleged, Sawyer stopped dealing with Beck after the Council on American–Islamic Relations “went down to ABC” and demanded that the network cease giving him a platform or they will boycott ABC, its parent company Disney, and the Disney parks.

“All of the sudden, I can’t get Diane on the phone,” he recalled. “Eight months later, I have lunch with her, and she becomes the biggest bigot I’ve ever seen in my life.”

As Beck continued to posit his theories on why the friendship went south, co-host Stu Burguiere mocked Beck for speaking so frankly, telling him: “Don’t even think about what you’re saying. Just go with it.”

Yeah, I remember when he just had the radio show. Much better than. And I didn’t have to hear three people talk over and laugh every 4 seconds.

I love Malkin and Levin, in part because they're not always trying to inject humor into things. I'm over the humor. This is serious business. It's time for the yuk-yuks and the "my good friend, even though we disagree" crap to end. In fact, I can't watch Ann Coulter anymore for just that reason. If she'd stop laughing and start slicing and dicing, I'd watch her again. Malkin has a sense of humor--that's clear to me--but she doesn't continually inject it into her arguments. As a result, her arguments are lethal to the Left.

Hugh Hewitt said that he wouldn't appear on the same platform with Beck. I think it is because Hewitt is too buttoned down, and Beck, too unpredictable. But Hewitt sometimes is too rigid, calling himself, "Rule of law Conservative", when there is no, "rule of law", on the other side.

Beck and Levin can get to what folks are really thinking even though they don't want to say anything out loud. Somehow Hewitt and Levin are close friends. When I listen to Levin, I chuckle at the times he must make buddy Hewitt cringe, and I chuckle at how the often smug Hewitt must be annoyed at Beck, when Beck with all his rhetorical warts, shows unique insight. And this, from listening to Hewitt goes way over his head.

As to Malkin, her angry shtick is often useful on some issues, but sometimes she goes too far...

I’m with you, Cinnamontea. I do love Rush and would be absolutely devastated if he were to end his show. I also love to listen to Levin and Malkin as often as possible. I LOVE their passion. I almost always learn something new or am reminded of something I once knew but hadn’t considered in a long time.

And you’re right about this being some serious stuff we’re dealing with. I am frequently puzzled by the lack of outrage by many on the right.

I’m looking forward to Levin’s new book. There’s just so much whining that can be done about where we are. I am ready for a plan of correction, and his plan sounds like one for the ages.

On a possibly related note, I had to give up on Rush today as he was telling the story of his early career for the umpteenth time, and the point seemed to be that he doesn’t bother to look back nostalgically on his early career.

Talk radio hosts, ego is thy name. It’s all part of the territory.

All these hosts claim their show is changing world events. According to BOR things happen in the world, or not, based on what he will allow.

Somehow Hewitt and Levin are close friends.

As young attorneys they worked together on Reagan's transition team.

Today is the twenty-five anniversary of the day he started his show. Let him reminisce.

Beck is overly dramatic. Right on the basics, but always trying to pretend like he has the course of history in his hands.

I’ve never heard Manikin’s show.

Rush basically does the same show every day. I could hear one from 1993, 1998, 2002, 2008, and 2013 and outside of names, I wouldn’t know the difference. But I do miss it sometimes.

Levin is the only one I really do listen to because he is actually serious about wanting to do something. Not just marveling at how awful the other side is. I just cant stand the callers on there.

A post about Glenn Beck-Time to start counting up the "Beck is insane" , "Beck is drinking again.", "Can't stand his show", "He's losing it." comments that always appear.

It's like he has his very own set of trolls,
who show up whenever anything is posted about him.

As for what he said about Diane Sawyer,
it seems like he was talking more about CAIR,
and how they were able to prevent him from doing anything at ABC,
then he was about her.

The clip at Mediaite cuts off before he finishes what he is saying.
No big surprise that they would try to take his words out of context,
in order to stir up a controversy.

I love Glenn Beck.
The man is a visionary, creative genius.
I wish him success in every one of his ventures.

He is right on with his analysis that conservatism needs to be front and center in our culture.
That's why he has movie studios, has a museum, exc...He has big ideas-plans.

For the sake of our country,
I hope and pray that he and his team can make them happen.

For anyone reading the troll comments-Don't listen to them.
Go to Glenn Beck's site-www.glennbeck.com and see for yourself what he's about.

By all means-let's everyone stop listening to Rush, Beck, exc...that'll help us further our cause (....eyes-rolling sarcasm).

Agreed about yuk-yuk. I personally find Rush to be funny AND deadly clear. He is not overly harsh, strident or weird. That those others are turns me off, and I agree with their message!

With all due respect, this post of yours is a perfect example of why some Glenn Beck fans come across as overwrought evangelists. You don’t just like him and listen to him; you’re emotionally invested in him. The fact that everyone else is’nt seems to drive you bonkers.

Of the talk radio hosts, my favorite is Mark Levin, but I don’t catch him all the time, and if someone else doesn’t like him, that’s his or her privilege. It doesn’t bother me. I’m certainly not going to go around hyperventilating that he’s the most wonderful person on earth and, here, you MUST listen to this segment of his! He’s a visionary! He’s going to change the world!

IMO, Beck is a weepy drama queen who’s made endless sonorous promises about secret information that’s going to take down the power structure of the government, determine the fate of our nation, rock the nation & change everything, etc., etc. (Those are verbatim, BTW). But nothing ever comes of them, and he doesn’t mention them again because he knows his audience (or “followers”, as he once correctly called you) will accept it and fall for it all over again next time.

BTW, Beck is on record as saying that sodomite marriage is about “freedom” and “the principle of it is right.” No person who supports queer marriage speaks for me. Your mileage may vary.

I am grateful for Rush, Hannity, Malkin, Levin, Beck.

Beck has the greater amount of self-doubt and consequent struggles, which make his presentation sort of wobble. Sometimes it stabilizes and is great; other times, there seems to be a lot of wobble.

Beck was some kind of pal of Senator Joe Lieberman, whom Beck mentioned a lot ... but now does not mention much.

Beck sort of straightened up, when his tolerance of so-called bi-partisan liberals, ran into his respect for our people in uniform who had been sent off to fight the murderous, treacherous muslim fanatics. Beck was, “Hey, wait a minute, these are our kids taking enormous risks, and they don’t deserve the liberals’ ire!”

It was a turning point.

Yet all along, is his *greater self-doubt,* which can get the best of him.

Levin I am particularly glad to hear, because he is driven by the need to get the record set straight and do some good fixing up of our foundations of liberty.

Basically, Levin is who I want to see in the ring with Chris Matthews.

Malkin I like, because she came forth with courage and she is still determined to stand up; much like Sarah Palin.

You can if you want but I’ve listened to Rush since I was in Jr. High (1991-ish), and there really isnt anything left for me to get out of it unless it is a really good commentary that usually gets picked up here.

Beck was someone I started listening to back in 2004, and was obsessed with on radio and TV. Learned a whole lot. Between the manic episodes and the doomsday is around the corner stuff, I really dont have the time for it anymore.

There is nothing wrong with them, but there is only so much time you can waste with people that are repeating themselves before you move on.

"There's nothing wrong with them, but there is only so much time you can waste with people who are repeating themselves before you move on".

You can take the time to post on a public forum to try to discourage other people from listening to them. That'll help. There are just too many people getting the conservative message today (eye-rolling sarcasm).
