On Thursday George Strait's New Song Inspired By Newtown School Massacre was a top story. Here is the recap: Country superstar George Strait has released his latest single "I Believe" which was inspired by the tragic school massacre in Newtown, Conn. last December. We were sent over these details: Strait co-wrote the song with his son, Bubba Strait, and songwriter Dean Dillon after watching the news coverage of the tragady. Having lost his daughter at a young age, George felt as if it was a song he needed to write.

Yet, when he was working on the album, he didn't initially record the song. After listening to the playback of the album, Strait's wife Norma insisted that he record the song so at the end of the session he asked the band to record one more.

"Like everybody, I was watching the coverage on TV," said Strait in an interview. "I know what these parents are going through. It's the worst thing that can happen to you in your life. To lose a child….there's nothing worse than that. So I started thinking about saying something about it."

He concludes, "It's a statement of faith, is really what it is. It turned out beautiful."

"I Believe" comes from Strait's latest album 'Love Is Everything' and is the follow-up single to his record breaking 60th No. 1 song "Give It All We Got Tonight". -

I have had this CD for a couple of months and did not make the connection between the song and Newtown. It is a tear jerker when you listen to it in that context

I wonder if “Uncle Ted” is considering a cover?

I don’t know but I see Geraldo took issue with Uncle Kracker’s choice of band names. I didn’t realize that Uncle Kracker got their start in Detroit.

Oh, and you are hereby assigned a $5 donation to FR. Additionally, you must repetitively type Long Live JimRob 150 times.

This will complete your conservative penance as long as you never again -purposefully- watch Whore-aldo.

They call it “hick hop.” It’s getting quite popular.

Can’t stand rap but don’t mind the Hick Hop at all. I also appreciate the fact that Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker are big Michigan Boosters.

A favorite of mine is Born Free filmed right here in Michigan without subsidies.

Kid Rock’s made in Detroit gear has some good backers like Ted Nugent and Bob Seager and some of it’s pretty cool stuff with proceeds going to charity.

Thanks for the link. I had not been aware of this song. According to Wikipedia, his daughter Jenifer was killed at the age of 13 in an automobile accident.
