The black race is 95% totally ignorant of anything logical and rational. They see everything in the prism of black/white. Every thought, every decision that involves both races, they judge it from a racist perspective. They are far more racist than whites. America would never have elected this racist if whites were racists.

Many of the ancestors of the 15 million who had to forcibly leave Africa became better off than those who were left behind.

Ever heard of an African American wanting to go back to “his country” of origin?

The population of the United States at the time, based upon census records was 31,443,321. So 1.6% of that is 503,093 people owning slaves.

Today that would be less than 2 tenths of one percent of the population. In other words 99.8 + percent of the population of the US have had nothing to do with slavery.

Why don’t you wonder what would have happened to Oprah if her ancestors had remained in Africa.

Have a very good friend of mine that was stationed in Ft Campbell. Regular, ol’ infantry guy, nothing fancy, but did quite a bit of work/training with the 5th Group while he was there. So, here goes the story:

5th Group team gets sent to Africa(i know 5th Gr covers ME, but they were sent anyway)....all black in an effort to have a better rapport with the locals...didn’t work out that well...the locals hated them....hated blacks from Amercia, period...tribal leader acknowledged that africans played a major role in the slave trade, probably more than any liberal or Sharpton-type would ever want to know/admit...tribal leader stated that the ones that were traded were the ones the tribes didn’t want, the refuse....that report is/was buried...

Take it for what its worth, I guess. You have people like oprah, sharpton, jackson, NBBP, Bobby Rush, Clyburn, Waters, Jackson-Lee, the list goes on and on.

Then you have Sowell, West, Carson, Tim Scott, Mia Love, Arthur Davis, Guillory, and others. It’d be nice to see them be able to reach out to the black community more, but they don’t show up with bags of cash in exchange for votes, so they’re not welcome.

Every innocent life taken is to be mourned, but, do facts matter at all????

I just finished reading American Betrayal by Diana West. Well worth reading. I recommend it. However, I mention it here because, to me, the takeaway point of the book was, "facts no longer matter." The Martin/Zimmerman event was simply the most recent example of this.

It doesn't matter the topic: racial violence, gun restrictions, the dismal state of American education, and on and on, facts simply no longer matter. As she put it, too may people derive their facts from their theories, instead of deriving their theories from the facts.

One of the things that turned me into a conservative over the years is discovering how much liberals lie about most everything. No statistic or “fact” coming from the pen or mouth of a liberal can be taken at face value. All their assertions must be checked out. And even if at times they manage to tell the truth, they hide the facts more. They’re masters of the half-truth. For instance, during the Reagan years if millions of people got jobs thanks to Reagan’s economic actions, if a few people were out of job, the latter was much more publicized than the millions who were previously unemployed.

Years ago Dr. David Jeremiah made the comment on his radio show that during the Spanish Inquisition 50 million people had been killed.

I immediately ran the numbers and sent him a letter stating that according to his numbers 388 people would have had to be killed each and every day for 353 years.

I asked a simple question; If his numbers were accurate, where were the bodies?

He never answered, imagine that.

I was watching underground cities today and they featured Dublin. It was all pretty interesting until they detailed the Viking raids for Slaves and casually dropped that OVER 10% of the entire population of Europe was enslaved. Furthermore, the word Slave comes from the Slavic peoples who suffered the worst under slave raids. Oprah and all the other racists need to STFU and learn something besides what racist revisionist black “Scholars” teach. The blacks didn’t suffer anything that the “whites” of europe didnt suffer and they did so in far smaller #’s.

Somebody needs to start a reparations movement for all of the europeans just to illustrate the absurdity of the blacks claims for reparations.

I say "used to say it" because I have not seen him in about 15 years.
He probably is still saying it. He was a very polite fellow...;)

Further background will show that the city of Dublin originated as a slave trading city.
The city originated as a point for trading - buying, selling and transporting slaves.
That was the entire reason for its becoming a city.

In other words 99.8 + percent of the population of the US have had nothing to do with slavery.

Not logical. A vastly larger percentage of Americans are descended from slaveowners, including Dear Leader and myself. But then I'm also descended from men who fought to end slavery.

More importantly, that 385,000 people owned slaves in 1860 is true, but very misleading when you use the number to determine the number benefitting from the institution.

As with real estate today, ownership is generally vested in the head of the house, but we don't say the family doesn't own their own home.

In the Lower South, 40% of white families owned slaves, in the Upper South 25%, and about 10% in the Border State. I'm working from memory, so numbers may be a little off.

Your number only makes sense if we agree Scarlett O'Hara had "nothing to do with slavery."

Also, the LAST known lynching was circa 1925. None later.

Untrue. Though not terribly far off.

Here's a 1946 incident.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1946_Georgia_lynching

One of the problems is definition. Not all murder are lynchings. To my mind lynching implies a semi-public nature of the event, which is more or less the point, to terrify a segment of the community.

Emmett Till was from the mid-50s and is sometimes called a lynching, but it was a secretive crime, not a lynching to my mind.

Then the George Zimmerman trial and the Duke lacrosse charges were a form of lynching.

In the period after the Civil War and before WW1, there was a lot of self help. Cattle rustlers, claim jumpers, rapists and the like were taken out and shot or hanged. The number of innocent Negroes who were hanged over 50 years is less than the number of innocent Negroes killed in LA and Chicago every year. And less than the number of whites who were hanged or shot for suspected but not proven offenses.

The fact that the Klan used lynching as a terror tactic has created a cottage industry in racial grievance. My home town, Cincinnati, is the center of this industry hosting the “Freedom Center” where all young blacks are propagandized with the lynching stories and a visit to the slave pen supposedly representative of the horrid conditions of slave life (but actually more like what all poor people lived like in 1840). Let them rant. Its all part of their game.

Correct. As were the Bork and Thomas confirmation hearings.

I should have said “public or semi-public nature,” as many of the earlier lynchings were more or less in the nature of a public ceremonial occasion, with open of tacit cooperation of local law enforcement.

I also think it is relevant that at minimum some large percentage, quite probably a majority, of those who were lynched thoroughly deserved execution for their crimes. While never in favor of vigilante justice, those who were lynched for murder or other heinous crimes have no particular moral right to decry the injustice.

Another percentage, impossible to quantify at this point in time, were innocent bystanders, or people who had committed a crime not deserving of execution. And their lynchings most certainly were a miscarriage of justice.

Lynchings, like the McCarthy Red Scare, have been exploited by anti-American ideologues to impugn the morality of the entire American system and society. While horrible things, both are pretty small beer in any rational historical or worldwide comparison of atrocities.

You are probably right. Sigh.

In actual fact, only about 5% of all African shipped to the New World came to what is not the United States. 95% went to the Caribbean or Latin America.

And slaves in those areas were mistreated much more brutally, as can be easily seen by the differential reproduction rate. Slaves in the Caribbean and Brazil were worked to death so quickly they had to be continually replenished by new imports just to keep up their numbers.

Meanwhile, the slaves in North America underwent a massive population explosion, equivalent in size to that of their white masters. AFAIK, this is the only slave society in history to even reproduce itself, much less grow in size.

The US slave owners generally wanted the slaves to breed because it was cheaper than importing them I suppose. The same way you wouldn’t kill off the cows, horses and field hands - just bad for business.

There is also the fact that North America was the most distant market for slaves, and therefore they were most expensive there.

For Caribbean and (especially) Brazilian slaveowners, it was cheaper and easier to just work slaves to death and buy new ones.

Anywho, the fact that slaves were able in America to survive and thrive sufficiently to reproduce in large numbers indicates by definition that conditions were much less harsh there than in the other market areas.

according to wikipedia, there were only ~600,000 slaves ever brought to America.

According to PBS, the loss rate across the Atlantic was about 10-20%, which sounds about right. So we're talking about around 100K deaths, not hundreds of millions.

Remember, the slaves were valuable cargo, and the captain would only be paid for the ones who arrived in acceptable condition, so the crew tried hard to keep them alive and healthy.

The Tuskegee Institute has recorded 3,446 blacks and 1,297 whites were lynched between 1882 and 1968.

So the total number lynched over 86 years was around half the number killed by other blacks in 2011.

Judging from black crime rates, a 70/30 split probably approximates the proportions between races for offenses that were likely to result in summary execution if caught in the act.

Yes, but they race hustlers and their friends in the leftist media only care about those who were killed by whites, including "white Hispanics". We know this to be true because the deaths of these blacks are completely ignored while 24/7 focus was on the occasional white killing black as witnessed in the thug Martin case.

Over a period of 100 years, even a high-end estimate of 120K dead slaves means about 1.2K bodies overboard per year, which would not be significant in a big ocean.
